Introduction to the title
• The Flea Palace" is the story of an apartment building in Istanbul . The
building was named as "Bonbon palace.
• The building is the house of 10 highly different inindividuals.
• It was constructed in 1966.
• But now sadly it is dilapidated and flea infested.
The contents of the novel
• The novel consists of the contents;
• Before.
• Even Before....
• Now Today
• Next.
The narrator and Injustice Pureturk
• The novel begins with the description of the narrator about the truth.
• People say the narrator has fanciful mind in simple words the narrator talks
nonsense.
• The narrator takes the truth differently i.e if the truth is thought to be a
horizontal line, a deceptive mind percieves it vertical line.
• And according to the narrator' the truth is something like a circle having .no
ending and no biginning.
• Injustice Pureturk
• On Wednesday, May 1st 2002 ,a funny looking person with disproportionate
features came to remove pests from The Bonbon palace.
• He is running a company named as " RAINBOW PEST REMOVEL SERVICE.
• He is taken as "Jinni " by a little girl.
Before....
in 1960
The history of the place where the Bonbon palace was constructed is
described.
Once there were two cemeteries in the middle of Istanbul. One was of
Armenian Christians and the other belonged to MusMuslims.
To settle the growing population of immigrants in the city , it was needed
construct more buildings.
The cemeteries were removed . The Bonbon palace was constucted their
by a foreign couple.
Even Before....
In 1920, at the end of the Tsarist reign a Russian émigré Pavaul Antipav,
with his young pregnant wife Agripina ,arrived in Istanbul.
They were penniless and jobless. They tried hard to cope with the
circumstances but failed
• as their newn born daughter died . The wife could not bear it and
became a psychatric.
• They left Istanbul and went France where Pavel Antipov gained wealth
but his wife never became stable again.
• After 40 years, Pavel took his wife back to Istanbul. He purchased land
and constructed an apartment building for his wife.

• In this flat Musa his wife Meryem and the son Muhmmet lives.
• Musa is a janitor, he is short highted and a simple person who is
mostly absent from the flat.
• Meryem with a huge physical appearance, always seems anxicious
about the health and education of her son Muhmmet.
• Muhammet is a tiny boy in contrast to his mother's gignatic structure
. He looks like a dot of letter ö where mother is like o and he is its
dot.
• He is bullied in school.

• Characters : Sidar and Gaba
• Sidar is a student grew up in Switzerland and went back to Turkey for
study.
• A dropout stoner-type who lives with his dog Gaba and is obsessed with
death.
• He has passed various forms of posters, writing pages and slips on the
ceiling of his flat.
• He spends his time prevail with drugs and alcohol.
• He has no direction in life and would rather be lost in a haze of smoke
alone with his dog than be found mingling with people and interacting
with them.

Hairdressers CEMAL AND CELAL
Cemal and Celal are identical twins who were separated as children.
One lived with his father in Australia while the other with his mother in
Turkey remained.
• One is fussy extrovert and the other one is painfully introverted.
• There is hair dressing salon which is led by twin brothers.
• This salon mainly serves a meeting place to gossip about everyday
especially on the residents.

The Firenaturedsons
*There lived a family who love to live alone in their flat without being
disturbed by the other people.
*In their view, the world outside their house was a boundless terrain of
everlasting trepidation.
*There lived a fifty-six years old man Ziya.
*His fifty-five years old wife Zeren.
*There thirty-three years old son Zekeriya who broke his nose for the
fourth time.
*Zekeriya’s daughter (later)
*A cat
Flat number 5:
Hadji Hadji and his Son, Daughter in law and Grandchildren
*There lived a couple who left their children at home with their
grandfather and go for work.
*Grandfather bored the children by telling them old fairy tales.
*Grandfather compare one of his grandchildren with jinni, a jinni in the
form of human because of his behaviour and clever mind.
*Concept of jinni.

  • 4. Introduction to the title • The Flea Palace" is the story of an apartment building in Istanbul . The building was named as "Bonbon palace. • The building is the house of 10 highly different inindividuals. • It was constructed in 1966. • But now sadly it is dilapidated and flea infested.
  • 5. The contents of the novel • The novel consists of the contents; • Before. • Even Before.... • Now Today • Next.
  • 6. The narrator and Injustice Pureturk • The novel begins with the description of the narrator about the truth. • People say the narrator has fanciful mind in simple words the narrator talks nonsense. • The narrator takes the truth differently i.e if the truth is thought to be a horizontal line, a deceptive mind percieves it vertical line. • And according to the narrator' the truth is something like a circle having .no ending and no biginning. • Injustice Pureturk • On Wednesday, May 1st 2002 ,a funny looking person with disproportionate features came to remove pests from The Bonbon palace. • He is running a company named as " RAINBOW PEST REMOVEL SERVICE. • He is taken as "Jinni " by a little girl.
  • 7. Before.... in 1960 The history of the place where the Bonbon palace was constructed is described. Once there were two cemeteries in the middle of Istanbul. One was of Armenian Christians and the other belonged to MusMuslims. To settle the growing population of immigrants in the city , it was needed construct more buildings. The cemeteries were removed . The Bonbon palace was constucted their by a foreign couple.
  • 8. Even Before.... In 1920, at the end of the Tsarist reign a Russian émigré Pavaul Antipav, with his young pregnant wife Agripina ,arrived in Istanbul. They were penniless and jobless. They tried hard to cope with the circumstances but failed • as their newn born daughter died . The wife could not bear it and became a psychatric. • They left Istanbul and went France where Pavel Antipov gained wealth but his wife never became stable again. • After 40 years, Pavel took his wife back to Istanbul. He purchased land and constructed an apartment building for his wife.

Flate number: 1 • In this flat Musa his wife Meryem and the son Muhmmet lives. • Musa is a janitor, he is short highted and a simple person who is mostly absent from the flat. • Meryem with a huge physical appearance, always seems anxicious about the health and education of her son Muhmmet. • Muhammet is a tiny boy in contrast to his mother's gignatic structure . He looks like a dot of letter ö where mother is like o and he is its dot. • He is bullied in school.

Flat number:2 • Characters : Sidar and Gaba • Sidar is a student grew up in Switzerland and went back to Turkey for study. • A dropout stoner-type who lives with his dog Gaba and is obsessed with death. • He has passed various forms of posters, writing pages and slips on the ceiling of his flat. • He spends his time prevail with drugs and alcohol. • He has no direction in life and would rather be lost in a haze of smoke alone with his dog than be found mingling with people and interacting with them.
  • 11. Flat number: 3 Hairdressers CEMAL AND CELAL Cemal and Celal are identical twins who were separated as children. One lived with his father in Australia while the other with his mother in Turkey remained. • One is fussy extrovert and the other one is painfully introverted. • There is hair dressing salon which is led by twin brothers. • This salon mainly serves a meeting place to gossip about everyday especially on the residents.
  • 12. flat number: 4 The Firenaturedsons *There lived a family who love to live alone in their flat without being disturbed by the other people. *In their view, the world outside their house was a boundless terrain of everlasting trepidation. *There lived a fifty-six years old man Ziya. *His fifty-five years old wife Zeren. *There thirty-three years old son Zekeriya who broke his nose for the fourth time. *Zekeriya’s daughter (later) *A cat

Flat number 5: Hadji Hadji and his Son, Daughter in law and Grandchildren *There lived a couple who left their children at home with their grandfather and go for work. *Grandfather bored the children by telling them old fairy tales. *Grandfather compare one of his grandchildren with jinni, a jinni in the form of human because of his behaviour and clever mind. *Concept of jinni.
