Customer is at the core of digital disruption. Customer experience and ever increasing customer expectations drive outside-in thinking and deployment. Start with the customer, stay with the customer, even when considering company objectives.
The digital disruption opportunity is for true customer centricity to pull service and convenience, leaving the customer wanting more and naturally increasing share of wallet.
In this talk, I riff on various jobs you can do with your DevOps knowledge that aren't more of the same (or moving into software engineering). These include sales engineering, consulting, product management, product marketing, and more.
A presentation on the reasons and techniques for creating prototypes of interactive projects. From the Media Design Practices MFA at Art Center College of Design.

Introduction to Usability Testing for Digital MarketeersLennart Overkamp
These slides provide an introduction to usability testing for digital marketeers. This well-known method in user-centred design is used to improve products, by having participants interact with these products and by measuring their performances and responses.
I presented this topic as a guest lecturer to students attending the Minor Digital Marketing at the Fontys ICT Eindhoven at April 5th, 2017. Providing examples and best practices from Dutch digital design agency Mirabeau, I explained to them the required steps for the preparation, the moderation, and the analysis of usability tests.
I updated my slidedeck from my Skillshare class so that I could teach the course internally at Group Commerce.
If you would like to teach UX within your company, try to use examples with which your coworkers are familiar. This way, stepping into the shoes of the users and evaluating their needs based on the product, is not so difficult.

Together with Heleen van Nues, my Interaction Designer colleague at Mirabeau, we gave this workshop during UXcampNL 2016 in Eindhoven, the Netherlands. We discussed the pros & cons of wireframes, and the advantages & procedure of an alternative to wireframes that we often use at Mirabeau: priority guides.
My goal with this talk was to provide developers and tech folks with an understanding of requirements gathering. Key concepts and resources that they can use to make their own coding practice better. Part of being a professional coder
A 4 hour workshop as a follow up to the "What is UX?" presentation.
Group exercises designed to get people thinking about how UX skills are applied to their daily digital work.
Putting the theory of UX into practice with some simple core tasks.
What is a Print Assessment - Overview of the ProcessNeville Wiles
A print assessment will help your printing partner, and you, learn about your imaging devices. The print volumes going through your departments, and digital document data and how your end users work with the equipment.
Building a homepage is not about coding, it's about letting your customer’s business meet their customers’ needs (okay it's also about coding).
This includes defining the purpose, meeting the users, going from needs to function, doing the framing and the design of the UX, and finally how to set up the Umbraco backend to support the needed data output in a way that is easy to use for the editors.
This presentation is part of a Citrix Labs workshop introducing the concepts of rapid prototyping for developers. It focuses on the creation of early samples, models, or releases of a product built to test a concept or process or to act as a thing to be replicated or learned from.

Techniques to optimize the pagerank algorithm usually fall in two categories. One is to try reducing the work per iteration, and the other is to try reducing the number of iterations. These goals are often at odds with one another. Skipping computation on vertices which have already converged has the potential to save iteration time. Skipping in-identical vertices, with the same in-links, helps reduce duplicate computations and thus could help reduce iteration time. Road networks often have chains which can be short-circuited before pagerank computation to improve performance. Final ranks of chain nodes can be easily calculated. This could reduce both the iteration time, and the number of iterations. If a graph has no dangling nodes, pagerank of each strongly connected component can be computed in topological order. This could help reduce the iteration time, no. of iterations, and also enable multi-iteration concurrency in pagerank computation. The combination of all of the above methods is the STICD algorithm. [sticd] For dynamic graphs, unchanged components whose ranks are unaffected can be skipped altogether.
Enhanced Enterprise Intelligence with your personal AI Data Copilot.pdfGetInData
Recently we have observed the rise of open-source Large Language Models (LLMs) that are community-driven or developed by the AI market leaders, such as Meta (Llama3), Databricks (DBRX) and Snowflake (Arctic). On the other hand, there is a growth in interest in specialized, carefully fine-tuned yet relatively small models that can efficiently assist programmers in day-to-day tasks. Finally, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) architectures have gained a lot of traction as the preferred approach for LLMs context and prompt augmentation for building conversational SQL data copilots, code copilots and chatbots.
In this presentation, we will show how we built upon these three concepts a robust Data Copilot that can help to democratize access to company data assets and boost performance of everyone working with data platforms.
Why do we need yet another (open-source ) Copilot?
How can we build one?

Adjusting OpenMP PageRank : SHORT REPORT / NOTESSubhajit Sahu
For massive graphs that fit in RAM, but not in GPU memory, it is possible to take
advantage of a shared memory system with multiple CPUs, each with multiple cores, to
accelerate pagerank computation. If the NUMA architecture of the system is properly taken
into account with good vertex partitioning, the speedup can be significant. To take steps in
this direction, experiments are conducted to implement pagerank in OpenMP using two
different approaches, uniform and hybrid. The uniform approach runs all primitives required
for pagerank in OpenMP mode (with multiple threads). On the other hand, the hybrid
approach runs certain primitives in sequential mode (i.e., sumAt, multiply).

Brief
In my short time as lab assistant in the PPL computer lab,
I’ve notice some areas of friction in the printing process.
Patrons are often confused about how to print from their computers;
from a browser, or desktop app.
Patrons often do not know where to collect their print, or
need to be directed to the print release station.
The process of scanning a library card at the release
station, selecting the print job and paying seems unclear
to the patron.

Research
I have had the chance to observe and question patrons in the lab
to further understand what may be causing their confusion. My
findings are as follows:
There is a variable of computer skill that is not a constant amongst
patrons; some have experience with the hardware and software found
in a computer lab, and some do not.
Computer skills do not necessarily dictate success when printing.
There is a need for a clear mental image in the mind of the patron of
what is happening during the printing process, and what needs to be
done to achieve their goals.

The current printing user flow.

Computer
The patron begins
at their computer, where
they identify where the
‘Print’ button is, select
the destination, and
continue to the
‘Print Release Station’.
Print Release Station
At the ‘Print Release Station’
the patron must scan or
enter their library card to
access their print jobs. Once
inside the program, their is
no indication of what to
do first; random clicking
is often employed.
Printer
Retrieving the print from the
printer is the easiest step,
and is also a moment of relief
for the patron. This element
of success should be
identifiable at the end of each
step for a more fulfilling
experience.

Proposed Solution
I would like to employ my design and problem solving background
to ideate a series of design interventions to create a more
satisfying and user centered printing experience by
way of new signage.
1. Patrons are often confused about how to print from their computers;
from a browser, or desktop app.
2. Patrons often do not know where to collect their print, or
need to be directed to the print release station.
3. The process of scanning a library card at the release
station, selecting the print job and paying seems unclear
to the patron.
