2. Weather The average weather of a place is called the climate. The climate of a place depends on how far north or south of the Equator it is
3. The Seasons In most places around the world, the weather changes throughout the year We have a cold season (winter) We have a warm season (summer) We have two in-between seasons (spring and autumn)
4. Summer When the North Pole is tilted towards the sun, it receives more heat. Therefore across the Northern Hemisphere, the sun will rise high during the day and it will be warm (summer). If the North Pole is tilted towards the sun during summer, how would it be tilted during winter? – Talk to the person beside you
5. Winter At the South Pole, the opposite occurs. When the North Pole is tilted towards the sun, the South Pole is tilted away from it causing it to be cold (winter).
6. Autumn and Spring In between the poles and the Equator there is a gradual change between summer and winter and back to summer again. These changes are called Autumn and Spring.
7. Create your Season Poster In groups, create a weather poster that will be presented to a younger grade to help students learn the different seasons. Ensure you take into account colour and ensure that any images you include depict the season you have chosen.
