Parkinson's disease is a neurodegenerative disorder that results from the loss of dopamine-producing neurons in the substantia nigra region of the brain. This leads to decreased dopamine levels in the basal ganglia and symptoms like tremors, rigidity, slowed movement, and impaired balance. The disease was first described in 1817 and is diagnosed based on the presence of two of the four main motor symptoms. Treatment options include dopamine replacement medications, surgery like deep brain stimulation to regulate motor circuits, and experimental therapies involving fetal or stem cell transplants.
Gonorrhea is caused by the bacteria Neisseria gonorrhoeae. It primarily infects the genital tract and rectum through sexual contact. Common symptoms in males include painful urination and discharge from the penis. In females, gonorrhea often shows few or no symptoms but can cause pelvic inflammatory disease if untreated. Diagnosis is made through microscopic examination of discharge, culture growth on selective media, and demonstration of intracellular diplococci on gram stain. Treatment involves antibiotics such as ceftriaxone or ciprofloxacin.
This document discusses various tests used to evaluate strabismus and retinal correspondence, including Bagolini's striated glasses test, Worth's four dot test, synaptophore testing, and progressive prism adaptation testing. It also describes techniques for stimulating the retina of a deviated eye, such as macular massage and bi-kinetic retinal stimulation, with the goal of achieving normal retinal correspondence. Surgical correction of strabismus is not recommended until tests confirm the development of normal correspondence and some degree of fusion.
Aniseikonia refers to an unequal apparent size of images seen by the two eyes. It can result from differences in refractive errors between the eyes (refractive aniseikonia) or differences in the distribution of retinal elements (basic aniseikonia). Symptoms include headaches, asthenopia, and difficulties with mobility or fusion. Aniseikonia is usually caused by anisometropia above 1.50-2.00 diopters and analyzing ocular components can help determine if it is due to refractive or axial differences.
The Maddox Rod is used to detect heterophoria and heterotropia. It consists of a series of cylindrical lenses mounted in a trial frame that produces an elongated streak of light. When viewed through the Maddox Rod, a spot of light will appear as a streak. This allows detection of deviations by assessing whether the streak is to the left or right of the spot for horizontal deviations, or above or below for vertical deviations. Prisms of increasing strength are used to measure the degree of deviation.
This document classifies and describes different types of squint (strabismus). It discusses heterophoria vs heterotropia and describes various classifications of squint including by direction of deviation, comitancy, duration, laterality, accommodation, and other categories. The classifications are explained in detail with examples.

6. Els gegants actuals
• CARLEMANY I ANNA GIRONELLA.
construits a Tiana, al Taller Pere Botero, l´any 1985.
• FÈLIX I ÀNGELS.

• L'ARGENTERA. Els negocis, heretats de generacions, li van bé i n'està satisfeta. Per
sempre crida. És la personificació de la ufanor. Representa la plaça de les Cols.
• LA BENETA DE LA FORÇA. Fa olor d'incens i de confessionari. És dona de rosaris i
distingit i elegant.
