The Eiffel Tower in Paris, France rises 300 meters tall and was the tallest structure in the world when completed in the late 19th century. Gustave Eiffel, known for his revolutionary bridge building techniques and construction of the Statue of Liberty's iron framework, was the man behind the Eiffel Tower, using his techniques to construct it over two years out of about 12,000 prefabricated iron pieces fitted together with 7 million nails.
