Industrial Tech SW: Category Renewal and CreationChristian Dahlen
Every industrial revolution has created a new set of categories and a new set of players.
Multiple new technologies have emerged, but Samsara and C3.ai are only two companies which have gone public so far.
Manufacturing startups constitute the largest pipeline share of unicorns and IPO candidates in the SF Bay Area, and software startups dominate in Germany.

MIRABAL KITCHEN
2006
For this project I had the
liberty to modify the
architecture of the house to
fit the clients needs.
We decided to eliminate the
wall that divided the kitchen
and the pantry area to
integrate both spaces.
Because of the new size of
the kitchen I was able to
have a central island with
the cook hob and a small
sink. On one side of the
island a low and long work
space only had a double This kitchen was designed and made with
sink and a completely POGENPOHL furniture. Featuring beige high-

solid vertical modules that
contained the main
appliances and storage
area, in the middle of these
vertical modules I proposed
3 lower storage units so
that we would have a
worktop between these
modules, we completed this
wall by adding 3 wall units
over the lower units and in
between a glass LED light
wall.
The central island was the
heart of the kitchen that is
why the worktop extends to
become an integrated table.

FERRARI KITCHEN
2007
The main aspect of this
kitchen project is it´s
horizontality. The main idea
was to frame the kitchen
with two tall wall and
emphasize its horizontality
by having a very long
central island in the middle.
One wall we concentrate all
the tall units, the result, a
tall and bulk block, in this
wall we arranged the double

lighter touch, a very long

hob and sink. We decided
to incorporate glass wall
units and a aluminum
storage unit at one end to
hide extra appliances.

CASTAÑO KITCHEN
2006
The space this kitchen has
to offer was very little, for
that I decided to
concentrate on both large
walls, which were one in
front of another. In one wall
I arranged the work space,
that is, hob, sink,
dishwasher unit, and work
space counter. On the other
wall I arranged the big
appliances, fridge, oven and
microwave, on that side I
also managed to include a
small pantry table for 3
people.
To maintain the same
language trough out the
kitchen I also proposed a
small cabinet by the
secondary entrance of the
apartment which lead to the
kitchen. And also decided
to incorporate cabinets in
the same wood veneer as
the kitchen in the laundry
room.
This kitchen was designed
and made with RATIONAL
kitchen furniture in light
wood veneer with steel
details.

GRATZER KITCHEN
2006
For this small kitchen I
proposed a central island
with Silestone worktop
containing the hob and
space for informal dinning.
On the wall opposite to the
hob, we displayed a block
of tall units that contained
the integrated fridge and
freezer, oven and coffee
maker, we also had two
large pull out storage units
at both ends.
On the other two walls we
concentrated on having low
units for maximum worktop
space, and only two wall
units with a touch of glass
to have a lighter and
spacious feel to the kitchen.
This kitchen was designed
and made with Poggenpohl

melamine resin. All
appliances by Míele.

WAIMBERG HOUSE
2006
For this interior design
project, I had to furnish the
social area of a city
penthouse. The social area
was an open and integrated
space. For this reason we
decided to furnish the
spaces using the same
architectonic language by
mixing different furniture
brands such as COR,
PIERANTONIO BONACINA,
and JAB for carpeting, we
managed to create a
modern and warm place by
a good use of color and
materials.
White was the main color
for walls and floors,
because of that, we
decided to use contrasting
colors to define the different
spaces of the house. Fo the
main room I proposed an
Arthe sofa by COR in an Dinning Room / 3-D Image
intense orange that would
contrast against the Fino
chairs in mustard leather for
the dinning room.

WAIMBERG HOUSE
2006
When we enter the house
we find and entrance hall
with a wall mount glass
storage unit that is light
from the inside, this piece
invites us to go in and
discover the living room. We
defined this space by a
large L shape sofa and a
single cube sofa on the
opposite corner, this space
is completed by a very

WAIMBERG HOUSE
2006
For the TV room witch is at
the end of the entrance hall,
we decided on a Lario sofa
by BONACINA which has a
raffia and leather back rest
accompanied by an Apollo
chair by ERIK JORGENSEN
in green apple. For the
terrace we decided in
something more transparent TV Room
so that the great view of the
city wasn’t compromised, a
glass table and Miss B
chairs in leather strings by
BONACINA over a square
area carpet defined this
space.
The private office had to
hold two separate work
spaces, we decided to use
the same furniture for both
work areas in order to
maintain the same
minimalist language, we
arranged the work spaces
in front of one another so
that the couple could
interact while working.
For a minimalist and
modern look we used
UNIFOR’s Less desk,
design by Jean Nouvel in
steel, with VITRA’s 04 chairs
in red.

MONDOLFI HOUSE
2006
The main idea for this
interior design project was
to give warmth and life to
the house.
The architectonic design of
the house was very modern
and minimalist. It is
designed in different
horizontal levels, and the
main element is a grate
staircase that invites you to
discover each level as you
enter the house. Living Room / 3-D Image
When you enter the house
the first thing that greets
you is the main open
staircase, and at the end 2
levels down, you find
yourself at the main living
room. We decided to form
two living areas, a more
private area would greet us
first, in this space we
arraigned two red Swan Living Room /
chairs by Fritz Hansen over Final layout
a round rug.
The living room was defined
by a large Nuba sofa by
COR in light grey, this piece
was accompanied by two
red Egg chairs also by Fritz
Hansen over a large rug
orange rug.

MONDOLFI HOUSE
2006
When we descend the stair
leading from the main living
room, we find ourselves in a
small private family room
that has a direct access to
the garden. The clients
wanted to use this space
for reading and relaxing, we
proposed two chairs and
footrests in green with a
green rug so that this space
felt as a continuance from
the garden. After many
meetings with the clients
and architects we decided

for a softer look, we
decided on two romantic
chairs in white and a rug in
green.
We also proposed for the
garden furniture from
GANDIA BLASCO, this
Spanish brand
characterizes in minimalist
white furniture, this was
perfect because of the
contrast with the green of
the garden area and also
spoke to the architectonic
style of the house.

The project also involved
the design of a private
office, we covered the back
wall with a large bookcase
in glossy white lacquer, a
large FLEXFORM dinning
table as a desk and 3 COR
chairs in beige leather. We
also proposed a CARL
HANSEN lounge chair in the
same leather color.

LOPEZ FAMILY ROOM
2003
This project is based on the
need to add two working
surfaces to the family room.
I proposed a long desk by
the windows to have natural
light in the work space,
arranging two equal work
spaces each with it’s own
set of drawers.
This is complemented by a
lower unit that will hold all
the multimedia units, and
storage space.

FEBRES PROJECT
2003
A room to sleep, play,
study and relax. This is
what this project
demanded, the solution:
a unique bunk bed system
that allowed us to have
storage space under to top
bunk and shelves over the
lower bunk.
In front of the beds a small
desk was proposed with a
library unit on one side, this
defined the study area.
On the other side of the
room, a special made
module was designed to
hold a recreation center, this
would hold the TV, DVD
player and a game consul.

VALENCIA PROJECT
2003
For this project I had to
design a guest room, it
required a double bed, a TV
unit, and a unit for a niche
made for a closet. For this
space I wanted to have a
free and light touch. I
decided on wall mount
shelves on the right side of
the niche, and for the niche
it self, a small set of
drawers, some shelves and
a mirror.
For the TV unit, a more
complex unit with multiple
shelves and drawers for
more store space.
