2. Google Glass (styled "GLΛSS") is a wearable
computer with an optical head-mounted display
(OHMD) that is being developed by Google in the
Project Glass research and development project
with a mission of producing a mass-market
ubiquitous computer. Google Glass displays
information in a smartphone-like hands-free
format, that can communicate with the Internet via
natural language voice commands
While the frames do not currently have lenses
fitted to them, Google is considering partnerships
with sunglass retailers such as Ray-Ban or Warby
Parker, and may also open retail stores to allow

4. Glass is designed to work like a smartphone
that’s worn like a pair of glasses. Although it
looks like a prop from a science fiction
movie, the device is capturing imaginations
beyond the realm of nerds.
The trio’s favorite feature, by far, is the hands-
free camera that shoots photos and video
through voice commands. (Images can also be
captured by pressing a small button along
the top of the right frame of Glass.) They
also liked being able to connect to the
Internet simply by tapping on the right frame
of Glass to turn it on and then swiping along
the same side to scroll through a menu. That
menu allows them to do such things as get
5. Among the biggest shortcomings they cited was
Glass’ short battery life, especially if a lot of
video is being taken. Although Google says Glass
should last for an entire day on a single battery
charge for the typical user, Hill said there were
times when she ran out of power after 90 minutes
to two hours during periods when she was
recording a lot of video.
Glass’ speaker, which relies on a bone conduction
technology, also is inadequate, according to the
testers the AP interviewed. They said the

7. • Recipe Book. The size and portability of the iPad makes it great for any room in the
house, including the kitchen. There are tons of great cooking apps, such as recipes
from Epicurious and Whole Foods Market. You can even manage your gluten
sensitivity with apps like Is That Gluten Free?
• Photo Album. It's one thing to carry around a bunch of photos on your iPhone, it is a
totally different thing when you can display them on a 9.7" screen. You can easily
store thousands of photographs on the lowest end iPad, and even display them as a
slideshow. How much memory does your iPad need?
• GPS. A great use for the iPad 4G model is as a GPS replacement. With an Assisted-
GPS chip, the iPad can keep you from ever being lost. And the Maps app introduced
in iOS 6.0 includes hands free turn-by-turn directions with data from TomTom.
• Portable TV. This little-known use for the iPad can be great for parents that often find
themselves at soccer games and tennis matches but might want to catch up on their
television. Through the use of Sling Media's Sling Box, you'll never be without
television. Shop for Sling Box
8. . 10 Hours of Battery Life
Going hand-in-hand with the portability is the extended battery life. The
iPad can go 10 hours of moderate use without needing to be
charged, which will beat any laptop. This battery life may not extend
quite so long under heavy usage, but even if you are having your own
Doctor Who marathon using Netflix streaming, you should be able to go 7
to 8 hour-long episodes before you need to plug it in. Tips to Save on
Battery Life
. Cheaper Apps
The iPad can do many of our routine tasks, and most of the time, the apps
required are free. The iPad comes with a full-featured web browser and
email package, and apps from Twitter and Facebook are free downloads
from the App Store. But even when you do need to pay for an app, it tends
to be cheaper than its PC counterpart.
9. • Less Expandability. If you run out of
storage space on the iPad, you may be left
clearing out music, movies and apps. The
iPad doesn't support flash drives to
expand storage, and external hard drives
and/or cloud storage can't be used to
store apps. While all tablets are
inherently less expandable than
laptops, which in turn are less
expandable than desktop PCs, the iPad
tends to be more limited than some
Android tablets.
• Limited Multitasking. Another trade off
