Popcorn has been enjoyed for centuries in various forms such as sweet, savory, or coated in other flavors. The Aztecs were among the earliest popcorn consumers, using it in ceremonial headdresses. In the late 1800s, Charles Cretors developed the first steam-powered popcorn machine, making it easier to pop and sell popcorn across the United States. Around the same time, Louise Ruckheim invented Cracker Jack by adding peanuts and molasses to popcorn. Cracker Jack then became strongly associated with baseball after being mentioned in the 1908 song "Take Me Out to the Ballgame."
