This document describes the situations of four poor elders living in Kurnool, India. Lakshmi Devi led a traditional life and is now deserted with ill health after her son died of AIDS and daughter attempted suicide. Bucchamma used to do daily wage work but can no longer support herself due to age and illness. Eswaramma lives alone in a hut after her sons deserted her. Girijamma also did daily wage work but is now too ill to work and support her family. Links are provided to donate food to each elder.

2. She led her entire life in Basavani
system as part of their traditional
customs. She was forced into this
custom by her mother. Currently
deserted and living in a small hut.
She had one son who died of AIDS
and one daughter attempted
suicide by lighting herself on fire
with kerosene. Due to age

Buchhamma used to work as a
daily wage worker in the market
yard. Due to age constraint and ill
health, she is not able to work
anywhere and support her family.

husband died. Her sons got
married. As there was nobody to
support her, she got ill health and
not able to work anywhere and
support herself.
