Point Elementary School holds an annual fundraiser called "Jar Wars" where students bring coins to school to earn positive or negative points for their class. The class with the most positive points at the end of the week wins. This fundraiser has been held since 2000 and has raised over $27,000 total for Basket of Hope, a nonprofit that provides gift baskets for seriously ill children in local hospitals. In 2013 alone it raised over $1,500.

Every year, Point Elementary School located
in Oakville, MO, a suburb of St. Louis has a
very successful fundraiser called Jar Wars.
Every child participates and is encouraged to
bring pennies and silver coins to school
representing positive and negative points
respectfully.
The class with the most positive points at the
end of the week wins the contest!

Our team of 3 participated in the fundraiser
in 2013. We are excited to be a part of
supporting Basket of Hope!

We will plan on participating in this
fundraiser every year that we are
students at Point Elementary School!
 It has taught us how important it is to
remember the children in our community
that are being treated for serious
illnesses in our local hospitals.


Basket of Hope will use the funds to
purchase toys, games, craft items, and
more that will help to fill baskets to be
given to seriously ill children.
 We hope that Basket of Hope receives a
grant from Companies with a Mission so
many more children will receive these
wonderful gift baskets!


community of Oakville, MO in 1995 and
is now a nationwide organization!

Many of the baskets are delivered by
