Voice:
-It is the poet’s voice.
-The poet is also the persona.
-There is one voice but several
  characters – I, we,Mr Nobody.
Devices:
-A limited rhyming pattern – only lines 2
and 4 of each stanza rhyme.
-Simile: As quiet as a mouse.
-Images of mess: mud, carpets soiled,
paper mislaid, finger marks upon the
  door, ink…spilled, boots lying around.
The use of the senses:

See- mud, marks, curtains fade, books, door
     ajar

Hear – quiet, break, cracked, tears, squeak

Touch – damp
Langua ge:
-Simple direct language is used.
Every stanza ends with Mr. Nobody.
-Old expressions are used: ‘Tis,prithee.
-Double meaning is used to create humour.
  Examples:
* Mr. Nobody refers to a
  character/person and a non-person.
* Lying means not telling the truth or being
  found all over.
Themes:
 Responsibility for one’s action.
Very few people will own up when they
create problems. They tend to push their
blame to others.

 Truth and honesty

 Responsibility as in doing what we have to do
and not wait for others to do it.
Moral Values :

-We must not be afraid to own up if we have
 done something wrong.

-If we push the blame to others even if it is to
nobody, it is the same as lying.

-We must take our duties seriously, not wait
for others to carry them out.
