Here are a few key points about virtualization:
- Virtualization allows multiple operating systems and applications to run simultaneously on a single physical server by dividing the server's hardware resources among multiple virtual machines (VMs).
- This consolidation improves hardware utilization rates and reduces costs by eliminating the need for separate physical servers. Resources can be allocated dynamically based on demand.
- Common virtualization platforms include VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V, Xen, KVM, and Oracle VM. They present virtual hardware to each VM, abstracting them from the physical hardware below.
- Full virtualization allows a VM to run an operating system that is different than the "host" OS managing the virtualization software. Paravirtual

OS for AI: Elastic Microservices & the Next Gen of MLNordic APIs
AI has been a hot topic lately, with advances being made constantly in what is possible, there has not been as much discussion of the infrastructure and scaling challenges that come with it. How do you support dozens of different languages and frameworks, and make them interoperate invisibly? How do you scale to run abstract code from thousands of different developers, simultaneously and elastically, while maintaining less than 15ms of overhead?
At Algorithmia, we’ve built, deployed, and scaled thousands of algorithms and machine learning models, using every kind of framework (from scikit-learn to tensorflow). We’ve seen many of the challenges faced in this area, and in this talk I’ll share some insights into the problems you’re likely to face, and how to approach solving them.
In brief, we’ll examine the need for, and implementations of, a complete “Operating System for AI” – a common interface for different algorithms to be used and combined, and a general architecture for serverless machine learning which is discoverable, versioned, scalable and sharable.
This document discusses configuring the SAP Business Workflow system. It describes initializing the workflow runtime environment, enabling the workflow system on each client, and configuring RFC destinations and administration data. It also covers verifying the workflow, creating prefix numbers for standard objects, setting active plan versions, customizing work item monitoring, and personalizing workflow settings.
This document discusses combining Ceph with Kubernetes for container-based storage management. It describes how Rook provides a simplified way to consume Ceph storage using Kubernetes concepts and APIs. The Ceph dashboard and Ceph management daemon (ceph-mgr) could also be integrated with Rook to provide a unified management experience. This would allow configuring Ceph storage through Kubernetes and the dashboard without needing deep Ceph expertise. The document outlines several ongoing projects aimed at further simplifying Ceph management, such as automatic placement group configuration and progress monitoring. The overall goal is to reduce the cognitive load on users and enable more automated workflows.
