Pupils planted chestnut trees at their school to observe and study their growth over six months. They prepared the chestnut handles and monitored how many were growing, how late they were developing, and what they needed to grow. After six months, the students took the small chestnut trees home and planted them in their gardens or in the school playground so they could continue caring for and learning about the trees and nature.
