Who: For experienced and budding gardeners.
What: Gardeners who want an easily manageable
system.
When: All the time.
Where: In the garden and at home.
Why: Easily manageable garden, assistance to keep
track.
Logistics involved with garden and
sharing experience and improving
gardening experience.
How can you make
gardening simpler and
more manageable.
Gardening is often time consuming and streesful. This app allows one
to actually have the hobby while negating some of the stress of
having to remember, by having the app do it for you
My team, DnE inc., is developing
PlantLife to help experienced and
budding gardeners simplify and
improve gardening skills and
experience with an easy to use and
communal application.
Our scoping has found that part-time/unemployed people would be
the best focus in our market, with a higher proportion of females to
males. They wish to have a focus on the calender and weather
systems, so that the work is negated. A subscription based app was
not preferred, however they would accept £1.00 a month fee should
there be one, as that would not be too taxing. Our scoping also
found our users liking a simple layout with easy functionality.
Garden manager-only has alarms and diary systems, with few social
aspects.
Gardener-limited functionality, diary and watering reminders, with
small social aspects.
Other applications of the same breed require more manual work.
Calendar: Allows a user to store their information about their crop, and
alerts user when an action is required.
MVP Story base: “Make it easy as possible, with no fiddly bits”
Weather: Takes weather data and processes from no action to high
action required, such as protecting crops and/or other actions.
MVP Story base: “Have it actually work for real action, not when it rains
do nothing. Only trigger it when there is a danger”
Databse: A cloud database hosting the information for the
application, allowing the calendar to access and process
MVP Story base: “I like the idea of it, but it could be nice if you were
able to access this data yourself.”

We will attempt to make this as
quick and fluent as possible, with
most data going behind the scenes
to improve the flow for the user.
Technologically, this app should function very well, however with
some of the advanced features of this app-the plant data
especially-it could be challenging to compile a complete
database.
We have chosen a subscription based model in order to help pay for
the cloud servers over time, as a subscription will be based for that.
We received numerous positive results, with a price of ~£1.00/per
month being the best option, so that it’s still relatively cheap
Adverts, in-app shop (store recommendations), web-service
subscription.
We hope to get the word out in a gardening community, by giving
several influential gardeners the app for free, and this causing a spread
of the application
As an idea, this app has the capability to branch out in
may directions, such as social aspects and the
aforementioned suggestions and database functions.
