CEO The Irish House JV, Moscow -– owners Aer Rianta (Irish State Airlines) and Mossoviet ???
First hard currency store in Moscow: the store (food, white goods and an Irish bar) was a focal point
of the ex-pat, embassy and wealthier Russian circles. The role demanded a high degree of tenacity,
relationship building across cultures, and negotiation skills with suppliers, Mossoviet Government
figures, customers and 350 Soviet and Irish staff. I took up post as Government tanks rolled past the
front door and my Russian staff manned the White House barricades at the end of their store shift
during the 1999 coup!
