This document provides information for volunteers participating in the removal of invasive red swamp crayfish from Pine Lake. It discusses the background and goals of the project, which are to control the red swamp crayfish population through whole-lake removal efforts, enhance native species, educate the public, and serve as a model for future removals. It outlines the protocols volunteers will follow, including surveying weekly from June to September, and mid and end-of-summer check-ins. Comparative biological details are given between red swamp and native signal crayfish, showing the invasiveness of red swamp crayfish. Past survey data demonstrates the success of removal efforts at other lakes.
