Tracking huge files with Git LFS - LinuxCon 2016Tim Pettersen
Developers love Git for its raw speed, powerful history traversal, distributed nature, and (of course) the fact that it was originally built by Linus Torvalds. What we don't love is the fact that, out of the box, Git has terrible support for tracking large binary files!
Fortunately, developers from Atlassian and GitHub have teamed up to work on an open source, MIT licensed project to solve this problem: Git LFS (Large File Support). This means researchers, web designers, game developers, multimedia producers and all other developers who need to work with large data and rich media can move off legacy centralized systems and start using modern version control.
This session covers the computer science behind Git LFS' internals & architecture, CLI usage and how to build an effective Git LFS workflow for a software team.

Migration is one of the most scary migration: it requires sharp tools to find incompatibilities in the code, and even more know-how to adapt it to the future environnement. During this workshop, we'll work on your code, systematically targeting incompatibilities and scouting for opportunities to use the new features. Along the way, we'll get right of dead code, slow routines and instable functions. After querying the code, we'll discuss the various solutions and learn even more about using PHP for the best.
PHP / MySQL applications are compatible to all operating systems, support all the popular databases, 100% remotely configurable, perfect for web programming & provide higher performance and speed.
PHP is an HTML-embedded scripting language. Much of its syntax is borrowed from C, Java and Perl with a couple of unique PHP-specific features thrown in. The goal of the language is to allow web developers to write dynamically generated pages quickly.
MySQL is a Relational Database Management System (RDBMS) that uses Structured Query Language (SQL).
PHP is the most popular scripting language for web development. It is free, open source and server-side (the code is executed on the server).
PHP third party tool and plug-in integration such as chat, forum, blog and search engine
Magento 2 Performance: Every Second CountsJoshua Warren
On the web, every second counts. Studies have shown that a 1 second delay in load time can cost a mid-sized eCommerce company $2.5 million per year in lost revenue. Let’s look at what Magento 2 has done to improve performance and how we can take things a step further to ensure the Magento 2 sites we build and maintain are well designed, well written and very, very fast.
Presented at php[world] 2016.
Practical tips for dealing with projects involving legacy code. Covers investigating past projects, static analysis of existing code, and methods for changing legacy code.
Presented at PHP Benelux '10
The Web is a vital part of our daily lives, and as we begin using the Web for tasks traditionally performed on the desktop, such as word processing, software as a service (SaaS) and software + services models are becoming more important. Web developers are caught in the cross hairs of these merging industries. They have the know-how of web development but, often, none of the skills for traditional desktop or mobile development.
Enter Titanium. Appcelerator Titanium is an open source platform for developing native desktop and mobile applications using the web technologies you're already familiar with. Now, web developers can use their skills to develop for both the Web and desktop/mobile platforms. Ben Ramsey will demonstrate how to create a simple application in Titanium Desktop, showing examples using JavaScript and PHP working together in the Titanium run time environment to power dynamic desktop applications that communicate easily with external web services.

Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.

Securing your Kubernetes cluster_ a step-by-step guide to success !KatiaHIMEUR1
Today, after several years of existence, an extremely active community and an ultra-dynamic ecosystem, Kubernetes has established itself as the de facto standard in container orchestration. Thanks to a wide range of managed services, it has never been so easy to set up a ready-to-use Kubernetes cluster.
However, this ease of use means that the subject of security in Kubernetes is often left for later, or even neglected. This exposes companies to significant risks.
In this talk, I'll show you step-by-step how to secure your Kubernetes cluster for greater peace of mind and reliability.

Elevating Tactical DDD Patterns Through Object CalisthenicsDorra BARTAGUIZ
After immersing yourself in the blue book and its red counterpart, attending DDD-focused conferences, and applying tactical patterns, you're left with a crucial question: How do I ensure my design is effective? Tactical patterns within Domain-Driven Design (DDD) serve as guiding principles for creating clear and manageable domain models. However, achieving success with these patterns requires additional guidance. Interestingly, we've observed that a set of constraints initially designed for training purposes remarkably aligns with effective pattern implementation, offering a more ‘mechanical’ approach. Let's explore together how Object Calisthenics can elevate the design of your tactical DDD patterns, offering concrete help for those venturing into DDD for the first time!
