PFAS (perfluoronated aykl acids) have been identified as potentially causing a wide range of negative health effects due to their persistence in the environment upon initial release. The reaction from the EPA has been unusually slow and the individual states have taken up the effort to hold companies accountable for the clean up and liability for subsequent health impacts.
