Persuasive Essay On Conversion Therapy
Conversion therapy, also known as reparative therapy, or Sexual Orientation Change Efforts (SOCE)
has a troubled history within the United States and abroad. Conversion therapy is the use of a variety
of means to attempt to change an individual's sexual or gender orientation. Current practices include
inducing vomiting or paralysis while showing a subject homoerotic images, having a subject snap a
rubber band on their wrist whenever they have certain thoughts, or using tactics to create shame or
aversion to same sex or transgender thoughts. Many established institutes claim that the therapy does
or doesn't work and offer contradicting evidence for their position. The Movement Advancement
Project, a group dedicated to providing research for the advancement of LGBT people, states in an
infographic that nine states, plus the District of Columbia and a handful of municipalities have
banned conversion therapy from being provided by licensed medical professionals to minors ("Kids"
1). Based on the established evidence and the overwhelming number of psychologists and sociologist
that disavow conversion therapy, along with the multitude of horror stories from children who were
persuaded, or forced, to participate by their parents, the federal government should ban conversion
therapy for all minors.
Despite the largely negative responses, many organizations support conversion therapy. Many
practitioners such as the National Association for Research and Therapy of Homosexuality

Conclusion Of Solar Energy
Solar energy reduces greenhouse gas emissions in the atmosphere because it harnesses the power
of sun energy with little to no gases being released. The amount of carbon dioxide released to the
atmosphere is way less from solar energy compared to coal plants when seeking to produce the same
amount of KWh per year. The benefits of solar power to the environment include the provision of an
inexhaustible supply of energy from the sun. Solar power captures the sun's energy with no harm to
the environment. Therefore, solar power is easier on health impacts, land use, water, and carbon
emissions than energy generating means, such as natural gas in fossil fuel and coal energy plants.
Additionally, residential solar power makes an environmental difference by offsetting emissions of
carbon dioxide, for example, a typical 4 kW solar power system offsets close to 200,000 pounds of
carbon dioxide within a period of 25 years. Generation of solar power from home involves creating
sustainable energy in addition to reducing the electricity demand on the grid thus mitigating
blackouts and brownouts as well as the community's dependence on fossil fuels for electricity.
The solar power environmental savings occur even if one does not utilize all their solar power or
not. Therefore, it means one's neighbors can still use the solar power not used from the grid
connected with net metering thus sharing clean, renewable energy with the whole community.

Technology Persuasive Essay
Technology is an integral part of our daily routines. A 16–year–old 11th grader in Denver says, "I am
probably on my phone 10 hours a day". One can further infer that technology has been incorporated
into everything needed to survive. We use technology in business, education, medicine, and research,
so much that one could even go so far as to say that our society has become obsessed. Although
technology provides us with crucial information we now need to thrive in the world, it also has some
controversial effects. In a recent argument, scientists (along with parents, students, and teachers) are
trying to determine whether an overreliance on technology could cause isolation, inhibit mental
growth, and/or cause depression and suicidal behavior among teens.
Scientists have been pondering the question for years and have resulted with differing views. While
some scientists believe that "there isn't enough evidence to condemn smartphones" and that there is
"very little data to suggest mobile technologies are causing anxiety or social impairments", others
are quick to blame. Those who believe the latter state that internet and smartphones provide a sense
of "inescapability" and that allowing a young person to have constant access to these platforms is
just like playing with fire. In a nationwide survey done between 2010 and 2016, the amount of
young adults who experienced at least one major depressive episode jumped by 60%. Along with
depressive issues, technology and internet have also been loosely linked to the inability to focus and
show sympathy to others' emotions.
The researchers who believe that technology and internet are often misjudged suggest that mobile
technologies can often help people, especially marginalized groups, deal with judgement, bullying,
and everyday stress. Candice Odgers, a professor of psychology and neuroscience at Duke
University, went so far as to say that jumping to conclusions and degrading smartphones could
potentially lead researchers away from more notable factors. Other scientists believe that, while
internet may not be the direct cause of depression, it can inhibit one's social interaction on a
day–to–day basis. Brian Primack, director of the University of Pittsburgh's Center

Conclusion For Universal Health Care
Premise 1: A universal health care system would reduce health care costs.
Premise 2: Universal health care improves overall public health.
Premise 3: Universal health care would encourage patients to practice preventive medicine.
Premise 4: Healthcare would be affordable to all citizens if made universal.
Conclusion: Therefore, implementing a universal health care system in our society would greatly
benefit everyone.
Reducing Health Costs
With a universal health care system, the government would have control and run the system,
therefore, the cost of healthcare would be regulated. "A universal health care system would be
regulated by the government, so costs overall would be reduced with a more monitored system to
reduce inflated costs for tests, hospital stays and procedures." (Ireland, 2017) When you regulate
medical costs, the cost of medical coverage, supplies, and prescriptions are more affordable for
everyone.
Improved Overall Public Health
With universal healthcare being more affordable, everyone gets equal access to medical health
care. This can lead to a reduction in the number of medical issues suffered by our society.
According to Howard K. Koh, M.D., "we can 'absolutely' expect for overall public health to improve
if we provide quality, affordable health care coverage for all Americans." (Cohen, 2009) This
means people would miss less work and/or school. This also means that more people could be seen
for some of the most basic ailments such as colds,

Health Care Persuasive Essay
When it comes to our health, a good healthcare plan is a very important subject for all individuals.
Some even argue that it is a basic right to have one. Bernie Sanders stated, "Healthcare must be
recognized as a right, not a privilege. Every man, woman, and child in our country should be able
to access the health care they need regardless of their income..." ("Issues: Medicare for All").
However, reality tells us a whole different story. America is one of the most developed countries
in the world with some of the best medical care. Yet, how can the people enjoy the benefits when
it is almost unaffordable to most. People are afraid to fall sick just because they are afraid of how
much it would cost. However, sometimes a doctor or hospital visit is unavoidable. In most cases,
it comes at a great price, especially to the middle class and the elderly. Wealthy individuals are
likely to reap the benefits of having an expensive healthcare plan, while the rest may suffer from
the unimaginable cost of treatments, or even worse, live a risky life without insurance. An
effective solution to this problem would be a Universal Healthcare System. This would ensure
that all people have equal and affordable health coverage, centralized healthcare records for all
individuals which will help easy diagnosis by doctors and reduce the intensive labor costs of
medical billing. Moreover, it may boost the economy by freeing business from providing expensive
healthcare benefits to workers. According to World Health Organization, "Universal Health
Coverage means that all people and communities can use the promotive, preventive, curative,
rehabilitative and palliative health services they need, of sufficient quality to be effective, while
also ensuring that the use of these services does not expose the user to financial hardship".
(WHO.int) By doing so, we give the people the opportunity to be equal to the rest of the society.
Since the cost of a healthcare plan is beyond most people's budget in the United States, the average
person spends more money on healthcare insurance than groceries and housing together. This
condition leads many to have no coverage at all. In fact, there are over 45 million uninsured
residents in the U.S. in it

Persuasive Essays : Persuasive Essay
When I began this class, I loved to write persuasive essays. I loved to write about my own opinions
and I was quite good at convincing people to agree with my stand points. To convince others to
agree on my point of view was an extraordinary feeling. I am very good at getting my point across
and giving my reasons on why I feel the way I do about a certain situation. I loved writing persuasive
essays because I love to read them as well. I love how persuasive essays have a call–to–action;
giving the readers a chance to do something about the situation. I am all for protest and rights for
others, if I believe someone is wrong I will stand my ground and prove that it is wrong. I loved to
write persuasive essays because, I am a persuasive person in life. My opinions matter just as much
as everyone else. Writing persuasive essays, is like writing from the soul. To be able to put my all
into a piece and show why it means so much to me. By taking this class, I have come to enjoy the
research paper. I feel now as I writer I still love persuasive writing; just know I include research to
help strengthen my opinions. I am an organized writer as well as a descriptive writer, being able
to write things in logical order and having things well explained for a reader. I now understand the
meaning and how to write about things I may not always agree with. Being able to describe my
writing, giving more detail is something taking this class has taught me. Giving my readers a better

Essay about Commentary on Persuasive Speeches
Commentary on Persuasive Speeches
In order to begin this piece of work we looked at persuasive speeches in our lessons. These
speeches were from famous people, such as Hitler and Tony Blair. However, my personal
inspiration came from a speech from Diana Princess Of Wales, entitled, 'Women and children with
aids.' This acted as a style model for my final piece and gave me the basis for my ideas. As well as
this it helped in my planning, as I could see which techniques were the most effective and how to
craft the piece for maximum effect.
My original idea was to write a persuasive speech about the very serious issue of poverty. However, I
found it difficult to write a long enough speech to fit...show more content...
The tone of the article is serious and reflective, however it is clear and to the point. This helps the
purpose of the piece come across more clearly. The intended effect on the audience is reached as it
stimulates the reader to reflect on themselves and other people, gently persuading the reader
unconsciously.
The structure of the article is clearly set out with a strong opening and ending. There is more
descriptive language in the middle of the article as well as facts and figures used to back up
statements. This makes the piece simple to read but effective at the same time. The lexis which is
used is more challenging for the selected audience, 'acknowledge, desperation, judgemental.' The
lexis would be much more simple compared to an article for a child.
The idea of helping the 'dark shadow of poverty fade' and 'reaching the light at the end of the tunnel'
are used as figurative language features. This was also used as emotive language to stimulate the
audience and their emotions.
The successful aspects of this article include the lexis, which I have chosen to complement the genre,
the shaping of the writing to the selected audience, as well as the purpose. The pictures help the
graphology of the article

Persuasive Essay on Abortion
Abortion has been one of the biggest controversies of all time. Many people believe it is 100%
wrong and even consider it to be murder. The definition of abortion is; "The termination of
pregnancy by the removal or expulsion from the uterus of a fetus or embryo prior to being capable
of normal growth." These pro–life believers do not support the idea of abortion and believe it should
be illegal. Many of these supporters do not know that if abortion were illegal they would still be
performed, unfortunately by an uneducated staff. Over 70 thousand maternal deaths occur every
year because of unsafe abortions. These women die, so the idea of supporting pro–life is
contradictory, this is why the nation should be pro–choice. Pro–choice...show more content...
The choice of her keeping the child would result in her getting kicked out of her home, she'd be
finically unable to support the baby, and she would lose her education. With abortion she would not
have to deal with these issues, though she would have to deal with the emotional aspect of deciding
to terminate the pregnancy. Pro–choice supports the idea she would learn from her mistake and that
ultimately it was her choice to do what she wished with her body. Even though these "Pro Life
supporters" think giving up your child for adoption is a better choice than an abortion, but those
children would be forced to live in an unfit foster home till they age out of the system. After they
turn 18 they are out on the streets what makes the women who would rather just have an abortion
have to think about when they know their child is in a foster home and probably no better off
than where they would be if she would have just kept it? You have to deal with the emotional
circumstances after an abortion for a while but you have to deal with not knowing what the child
you gave up has to go through on a daily basis everyday of your life is a lot harder than the
emotional toll of an abortion Even though many people practice pro–life because of their religion, it
may be surprising to learn that catholic women are 29% more likely to get an abortion than
Protestant women, though they are as likely as all women to do

Persuasive Essay
"Your assignment is to write a persuasive essay and present it to the class in a week. You will be
graded based on how convincing it is. Today we will be choosing topics," announced Mr.
Bowerbank, my 7th grade English teacher and ruler of classroom 110. My class simultaneously
groaned at the prospect of work. I simply lifted my head with intrigue as it was already May and
about time we had our first essay. He then proceeded to give examples of topics we could choose
and gave us some time to think before we had to tell him our topic. My classmates were already
rushing to tell the teacher their idea lest someone else steal it. That meant the usual abortion, death
penalty, or drug use topics were out. I really couldn't think of anything and the teacher was slowly
making his way through the remaining students like an executioner beheading criminals in a line.
I have always thought that he would make a marvelous supervillain if he had a curly mustache, a
tophat, and a cape. Eventually my name was called. I slowly dragged myself over to his desk.
Even sitting down, he still seemed to tower over me. "What is your topic Cindy?" As usual in such
desperate times, my mind turned to food. "Waffles are better than pancakes." I figured that awaffle
was just a differently shaped pancake with a nicer texture. "Hmm. Excellent topic. I look forward
to your essay!" I survived to live yet another day. As I walked to lunch, I went around and asked
everyone the age old question: "Do you like

restate your thesis statement (key essay idea) with strong points. The conclusion is the last chance
to persuade your readers to your point of view, to impress yourself upon them as a writer and
thinker. And the impression you create in your conclusion will shape the impression that stays with
your readers after they've finished the essay. It is different from summary. Summary reiterates the
main points of your essay whereas conclusion winds up the essay in a clear and interesting way
emphasizing on your personal opinion or suggesting a plan of action. It is normally a two to three
lines paragraph that makes the reader feel that essay is complete.

Police Brutality Conclusion
In conclusion, police brutality has been in society since the days of slavery and is based generally
around racial profiling. Over the centuries, police brutality has been geared towards middle and
lower class African American individuals and now includes Hispanics. The officers that are either
responsible or involved in the altercation are still not being held accountable or stepping up to the
plate and admitting their faults. Society would not view all police officers or agency as
untrustworthy or incapable of providing protection to all ethnicities if the officers would be
charged or just simply punished for their actions. Police officers have to take out their personal
beliefs and remember that their job duties and responsibilities are to protect and serve the public.
The public has to also remember that they have to follow the rules and laws of the land and be able to

Police officers and victims have to both realize that there are ways to prevent these acts from
occurring. Individuals of authority have to realize that they are still human beings and that the
people they are hurting could very well be someone in their family. I am a strong believer in the
quote "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you", this quote should show people that
what you do to someone can come back to you ten times worst or even better. People of all
nationalities need to realize that everyone is equal and deserve to be treated as such. There is no
amount of money that can give someone a life back. Police brutality can be minimized if the
government makes some structural reformation and recognize the issue at hand. The government
has to also make sure that they let the officers know they do not get to interpret the law of decide

Reflection Of A Persuasive Reflection
Reflection of a Persuasive Essay by Vickie Hale In my revision, I decided to incorporate
actionable feedback from the feedback I received. The feedback I received was that my essay
needed more clarification, I choose to use this feedback to help make my argument more developed,
I wanted to create a better thought out essay and I worked on the clarification of my argument as
well as renewed my research. With that, I did some critical thinking to help work through the
weak areas of my essay which was the structure and syntax. Therefore, I incorporated these
suggestions because they helped me to improve my essay and help me to create a more persuasive
essay. Without these changes alongside the small revisions, I made, I do not believe my essay
would have been as well–written so they were much needed. My biggest challenges came from not
being able to pin down my argument, it took me a while to come find a side to an argument that
wasn't vague. Because, I usually write in a creative way, which does not necessarily have to be
persuasive, I usually write fictional stories and people getting the understanding from the
experiences of the characters is the outcome, but with persuasive writing, you are trying to get your
readers to not only agree with your side of the argument but to see what and why you are arguing
your side in the first place. This became difficult for me because I kept feeling like my argument
was not central and a little vague. I worked on trying to help my readers understand what and why
I was arguing my side of the argument. I had to think about who was reading my essay and this
helped. What I could have done differently is choose a more central argument, I believe it would
have reduced my challenges. This question is hard for me to answer because I did not receive but
one peer feedback, the feedback I incorporated concerning my exploration of the issue was more
clarification because that was one of the problems my peer review pointed out. I worked on my
clarification because it is one of the main elements, that is needed when you are writing a
persuasive essay or any essay for that matter. Clarification gives the essay structure so your readers
can have a full understanding of your

Essay Conclusion On Stress
Introduction
Stress is a normal reaction to life events. It is what you feel when life demands more than you are
used to or more than you can handle. Some stress can be useful. For example, the stress reaction
can help you catch the last bus of the day, study for a test, or meet a deadline at work. But stress
that occurs too often or for too long can cause problems. It can affect your emotional health and
interfere with relationships and normal daily activities. Too much stress can weaken your immune
system and increase your risk for physical illness. If you already have a medical problem, stress can
make it worse.
What are the causes?

Techniques for reducing stressful life events include the following:
Stress identification. Monitor yourself for stress and identify what causes stress for you. These
skills may help you to avoid some stressful events.
Time management. Set your priorities, keep a calendar of events, and learn to say "no." These tools
can help you avoid making too many commitments.
Techniques for coping with stress include the following:
Rethinking the problem. Try to think realistically about stressful events rather than ignoring them or
overreacting. Try to find the positives in a stressful situation rather than focusing on the negatives.
Exercise. Physical exercise can release both

Persuasive Essay On Concussions
My first research project was the dangers and preventions of concussions in sports. Concussions
can be very dangerous if you are not wearing the proper equipment and do not treat them properly.
For those of you who don't know "a concussion is a type of traumatic brain injury that is caused by
a blow to the head or body, a fall or another injury that jars or shakes the brain inside the skull".
There are many symptoms of a concussion. "You may be suffering from a concussion if you
experience dizziness, headache, off–balance, amnesia for what occurred before the head trauma,
anterograde amnesia (a loss of ability to create new memories after the head trauma), difficulty
concentrating, irritability and vomiting". There are many ways to help prevent concussions but
here is the most effective one. To decrease the risk of concussive injuries removes players' greatest
protection. Take away helmets during practices. The idea was to heighten their instinct to protect
their heads, then hope that caution would carry over into real games when they wore their
helmets, thereby diminishing the chance of a concussion. Here are some ways to recover quicker. If
your doctor says to stay home from school or work for a few days, do it – no matter what else you
have going on. Don't let anyone pressure you into something that doesn't fit in with your healing
plan. Go to all your scheduled follow–up visits. Call a doctor if you have headaches that get worse
or other problems that don't go away My second research project was pros of phone use in school.
Many believe that phones would just be a distraction and kids would just play games on them, but
they can actually be used helpfully in the classroom. Cell phones eliminate the need for students to
carry calculators, cameras, and maybe even textbooks if they are available online. Also, schools can
focus on other things to spend money on other than Chromebooks or laptops. Students are not just
making calls, texting, and updating Facebook. They are making social connections, collaborating,
researching, and sharing information. Many phone apps offer visual representations of
difficult–to–grasp subjects (like astronomy, science, or anatomy) that can assist visual learners and/or

Persuasive Essay : Should Teenagers Get Jobs
Less than 3 in 10 teenagers hold jobs during the summer, and this number has been on a sharp
decrease since 2000 (Yen 1). This decrease is because teenagers are handed everything now,
meaning don't need to work for it themselves; and because employers aren't hiring. This is an
extremely low amount, because all teenagers should get jobs, in order to learn many life skills,
respect, and be able to support themselves. Everyone has thought about getting a job, even if they
do not have one, and the argument of whether or not teenagers should get jobs or not, is a very
controversial issue. The biggest issue people see with teenagers getting jobs is that it will affect
grades and participation at school, which can be true, but the key to anything is to make sure that
it is done in moderation. Obviously it is true that if there is a teenager trying to work five days a
week, and balance school, they will most likely struggle in school. This is especially true if they
work long hours. On the other hand, if they only work for three days a week, and only a few hours
each day, they can get the benefits of having a job as a teenager, and still be able to focus in school.
Experts even say that having a summer job can help prevent the "educational backsliding that
happens between school years for high school students" (Belsner 1), which is something that many
students struggle with, because unless students study over the summer, they usually forget some of
the things they learned the year

Persuasive Essay On Choices In Life
I believe that everyone in this life has choices. The choices we make define who we are as people
and what we stand for. Choosing one path over another may be the best or worst decision you
could ever make. However, once you have chosen, stick to your decision because you made that
choice for a reason. Even if it is to have lunch at a certain restaurant over another, or a bigger
decision like choosing your major. Something in your life helped you make that decision, and the
worst thing you can do is live your life with the regret of a choice. If your decision ends up badly,
simply make another choice. Choose a new path. In the words of my oh so wise History teacher,
"Never second guess yourself because that's worse than making the wrong choice in the end."
One of the best examples that comes to mind is a story I heard a few weeks ago, based on a real
event. In 1979, a man named Lee Strobel and his family went to a restaurant one evening and he
gave his 7 year old daughter a nickel to get a gumball from the machine and a few moments later,
she came back to the table choking on the gum. They didn't know what to do and if they waited
for an ambulance they feared it would be too late. All of a sudden, a woman came up and said
that she is a nurse and can help. The woman, after getting the gumball out of the little girl, told her
parents that her and her husband were headed to another restaurant when all of a sudden she made
a last minute choice to go here. Because of her choice, a little girl's life was saved. Hearing stories
such as this one, reminds me of all of the choices I have made, and how they have affected me.
When I was 6, my family up and moved to a new school called Knox County. I loved it there for I
had so many friends and nothing bad ever happened. Then at the end of 5th grade, my dad got a
new job so we moved schools again. This time I was 11 and starting middle school at a small
school called Pilot Grove, and I've been here ever since. There are times I catch myself wondering
what would've happened if we had stayed in Knox or the first town I ever lived in, Philadelphia (no
not the one in Pennsylvania). Sometimes I even believe that things would be a lot better if we had
stayed there. There are

Persuasive Essay On Global Free Trade
There is no doubt that free trade was a benefit to our economy as it opened up many new markets
in the world. Free trade allowed consumers the opportunity to receive better quality goods and
services at less expensive prices. However, even though it seemed like it provided many benefits
to our society, was it really beneficial to Americas economy? Free trade indeed globalized our
economy, but it also started the of deindustrialization of America. Our society and economy is
weakening at a rapid rate thus lowering our status in the world and bringing us to danger. If America
wants to continue focusing on global free trade, we need to focus on better tactics to prevent us from
losing more industries. To decrease our unemployment rate, we need focus on creating jobs for our
citizens. Manufacturing was once the economic growth engine of United States and represented more
than 28% of jobs. However, from 1962 to 2014, the rate dramatic dropped to 8% (CPA). As we
continue to open new markets and expand businesses in foreign countries, we are losing our
smaller businesses and driving them out the market (Johnson). Why are we assisting other
countries in creating more jobs in their economy, when we should be focusing on creating new
jobs for our citizens. We have destroyed US manufacturing and have lost more than 100,000
factories since 2000 (CPA). The tactic we used in free trade was clearly poor and sold America
out. Our "trading partners" basically stole our ideas as we decided to open new markets in their
country. Technology that was created by American companies are being reproduced in foreign
countries while they violate our patent and copyright laws. They undervalue these brands in the
market in order to bankrupt the US market even more. They are placing a toll in US competition
and ruining our market (CPA). Obviously, if we do not have a competitive advantage against
another country in a certain good or service, then it only makes sense to eliminate those industries
and jobs. For example, China produces almost half of the worlds goods and the textile industry in
China is one of the largest in the world. It wouldn't make sense for us to compete with them in the
market because consumers would continue to

Persuasive Essay On Health Care
Is healthcare a basic human right, or a privilege? This is the fundamental underlying question that
must be answered if we are to make any meaningful progress on healthcare reform in this country.
Until then, it will not be possible to reach a consensus on the ultimate goal of healthcare reform. And
without defining the goal, measuring success will be impossible.
History of Healthcare in the United States
This debate however, is not a new one. It has been raging at the core of healthcare reform efforts
in the United States for over a century. Up until the early 20th century the U.S. federal government
did not finance or provide health care to the public. In 1915 the first bill of it its kind was drafted
to provide state medical benefits to low income workers. Over the next 45 years successive
presidents made various attempts at advancing bills that would have implemented a national health
care system. However, none were able to gain the necessary support in Congress. This was often due
to opponents characterizing these systems as "socialized medicine." [8]
Proponents of this system continued to advocate for government–funded health insurance and
shifted their focus to providing coverage for Americans over the age of 65 and the poor. [106]By
the early 1960s, Medicare (the Social Security Act Amendments of 1965), a bill that would extend
Social Security to cover the medical bills of Americans over the age of 65 was passed and signed
into law by President Lyndon B. Johnson.

Persuasive Essay On Physician Assisted Suicide
The word suicide gives many people negative feelings and is a socially taboo subject. However,
suicide might be beneficial to terminally ill patients. Physician– assisted suicide has been one of the
most controversial modern topics. Many wonder if it is morally correct to put a terminally ill
patient out of their misery. Physicians should be able to meet the requests of their terminally ill
patients. Unfortunately, a physician can be doing more harm by keeping someone alive instead of
letting them die peacefully. For example, an assisted suicide can bring comfort to patients. These
patients are in excruciating pain and will eventually perish. The government should not be involved
in such a personal decision. A physician– assisted suicide comes with many benefits for the patient.
If a person is terminally ill and wants a physician assisted suicide, then they should receive one.
Physician– assisted suicide was first popularized in 1997 by the Oregon Death with Dignity Act
(ODDA) . This act states that a physician has the power to prescribe a lethal amount of medication
to terminally ill patients. However, the patients must have the knowledge of upcoming death. In
order to receive the medication the patient must, be over eighteen years of age, a resident of Oregon,
and must orally ask for the prescription twice. The oral requests must be fifteen days apart. The
patient's physician and a consulting physician must agree that the patient is mentally capable of
making such a

Persuasive Essay Conclusions

  • 1. Persuasive Essay On Conversion Therapy Conversion therapy, also known as reparative therapy, or Sexual Orientation Change Efforts (SOCE) has a troubled history within the United States and abroad. Conversion therapy is the use of a variety of means to attempt to change an individual's sexual or gender orientation. Current practices include inducing vomiting or paralysis while showing a subject homoerotic images, having a subject snap a rubber band on their wrist whenever they have certain thoughts, or using tactics to create shame or aversion to same sex or transgender thoughts. Many established institutes claim that the therapy does or doesn't work and offer contradicting evidence for their position. The Movement Advancement Project, a group dedicated to providing research for the advancement of LGBT people, states in an infographic that nine states, plus the District of Columbia and a handful of municipalities have banned conversion therapy from being provided by licensed medical professionals to minors ("Kids" 1). Based on the established evidence and the overwhelming number of psychologists and sociologist that disavow conversion therapy, along with the multitude of horror stories from children who were persuaded, or forced, to participate by their parents, the federal government should ban conversion therapy for all minors. Despite the largely negative responses, many organizations support conversion therapy. Many practitioners such as the National Association for Research and Therapy of Homosexuality Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Conclusion Of Solar Energy Solar energy reduces greenhouse gas emissions in the atmosphere because it harnesses the power of sun energy with little to no gases being released. The amount of carbon dioxide released to the atmosphere is way less from solar energy compared to coal plants when seeking to produce the same amount of KWh per year. The benefits of solar power to the environment include the provision of an inexhaustible supply of energy from the sun. Solar power captures the sun's energy with no harm to the environment. Therefore, solar power is easier on health impacts, land use, water, and carbon emissions than energy generating means, such as natural gas in fossil fuel and coal energy plants. Additionally, residential solar power makes an environmental difference by offsetting emissions of carbon dioxide, for example, a typical 4 kW solar power system offsets close to 200,000 pounds of carbon dioxide within a period of 25 years. Generation of solar power from home involves creating sustainable energy in addition to reducing the electricity demand on the grid thus mitigating blackouts and brownouts as well as the community's dependence on fossil fuels for electricity. The solar power environmental savings occur even if one does not utilize all their solar power or not. Therefore, it means one's neighbors can still use the solar power not used from the grid connected with net metering thus sharing clean, renewable energy with the whole community. • 3. Technology Persuasive Essay Technology is an integral part of our daily routines. A 16–year–old 11th grader in Denver says, "I am probably on my phone 10 hours a day". One can further infer that technology has been incorporated into everything needed to survive. We use technology in business, education, medicine, and research, so much that one could even go so far as to say that our society has become obsessed. Although technology provides us with crucial information we now need to thrive in the world, it also has some controversial effects. In a recent argument, scientists (along with parents, students, and teachers) are trying to determine whether an overreliance on technology could cause isolation, inhibit mental growth, and/or cause depression and suicidal behavior among teens. Scientists have been pondering the question for years and have resulted with differing views. While some scientists believe that "there isn't enough evidence to condemn smartphones" and that there is "very little data to suggest mobile technologies are causing anxiety or social impairments", others are quick to blame. Those who believe the latter state that internet and smartphones provide a sense of "inescapability" and that allowing a young person to have constant access to these platforms is just like playing with fire. In a nationwide survey done between 2010 and 2016, the amount of young adults who experienced at least one major depressive episode jumped by 60%. Along with depressive issues, technology and internet have also been loosely linked to the inability to focus and show sympathy to others' emotions. The researchers who believe that technology and internet are often misjudged suggest that mobile technologies can often help people, especially marginalized groups, deal with judgement, bullying, and everyday stress. Candice Odgers, a professor of psychology and neuroscience at Duke University, went so far as to say that jumping to conclusions and degrading smartphones could potentially lead researchers away from more notable factors. Other scientists believe that, while internet may not be the direct cause of depression, it can inhibit one's social interaction on a day–to–day basis. • 4. Conclusion For Universal Health Care Premise 1: A universal health care system would reduce health care costs. Premise 2: Universal health care improves overall public health. Premise 3: Universal health care would encourage patients to practice preventive medicine. Premise 4: Healthcare would be affordable to all citizens if made universal. Conclusion: Therefore, implementing a universal health care system in our society would greatly benefit everyone. Reducing Health Costs With a universal health care system, the government would have control and run the system, therefore, the cost of healthcare would be regulated. "A universal health care system would be regulated by the government, so costs overall would be reduced with a more monitored system to reduce inflated costs for tests, hospital stays and procedures." (Ireland, 2017) When you regulate medical costs, the cost of medical coverage, supplies, and prescriptions are more affordable for everyone. Improved Overall Public Health With universal healthcare being more affordable, everyone gets equal access to medical health care. This can lead to a reduction in the number of medical issues suffered by our society. According to Howard K. Koh, M.D., "we can 'absolutely' expect for overall public health to improve if we provide quality, affordable health care coverage for all Americans." (Cohen, 2009) This means people would miss less work and/or school. This also means that more people could be seen for some of the most basic ailments such as colds, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Health Care Persuasive Essay When it comes to our health, a good healthcare plan is a very important subject for all individuals. Some even argue that it is a basic right to have one. Bernie Sanders stated, "Healthcare must be recognized as a right, not a privilege. Every man, woman, and child in our country should be able to access the health care they need regardless of their income..." ("Issues: Medicare for All"). However, reality tells us a whole different story. America is one of the most developed countries in the world with some of the best medical care. Yet, how can the people enjoy the benefits when it is almost unaffordable to most. People are afraid to fall sick just because they are afraid of how much it would cost. However, sometimes a doctor or hospital visit is unavoidable. In most cases, it comes at a great price, especially to the middle class and the elderly. Wealthy individuals are likely to reap the benefits of having an expensive healthcare plan, while the rest may suffer from the unimaginable cost of treatments, or even worse, live a risky life without insurance. An effective solution to this problem would be a Universal Healthcare System. This would ensure that all people have equal and affordable health coverage, centralized healthcare records for all individuals which will help easy diagnosis by doctors and reduce the intensive labor costs of medical billing. Moreover, it may boost the economy by freeing business from providing expensive healthcare benefits to workers. According to World Health Organization, "Universal Health Coverage means that all people and communities can use the promotive, preventive, curative, rehabilitative and palliative health services they need, of sufficient quality to be effective, while also ensuring that the use of these services does not expose the user to financial hardship". (WHO.int) By doing so, we give the people the opportunity to be equal to the rest of the society. Since the cost of a healthcare plan is beyond most people's budget in the United States, the average person spends more money on healthcare insurance than groceries and housing together. This condition leads many to have no coverage at all. In fact, there are over 45 million uninsured residents in the U.S. in it Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Persuasive Essays : Persuasive Essay When I began this class, I loved to write persuasive essays. I loved to write about my own opinions and I was quite good at convincing people to agree with my stand points. To convince others to agree on my point of view was an extraordinary feeling. I am very good at getting my point across and giving my reasons on why I feel the way I do about a certain situation. I loved writing persuasive essays because I love to read them as well. I love how persuasive essays have a call–to–action; giving the readers a chance to do something about the situation. I am all for protest and rights for others, if I believe someone is wrong I will stand my ground and prove that it is wrong. I loved to write persuasive essays because, I am a persuasive person in life. My opinions matter just as much as everyone else. Writing persuasive essays, is like writing from the soul. To be able to put my all into a piece and show why it means so much to me. By taking this class, I have come to enjoy the research paper. I feel now as I writer I still love persuasive writing; just know I include research to help strengthen my opinions. I am an organized writer as well as a descriptive writer, being able to write things in logical order and having things well explained for a reader. I now understand the meaning and how to write about things I may not always agree with. Being able to describe my writing, giving more detail is something taking this class has taught me. • 7. Essay about Commentary on Persuasive Speeches Commentary on Persuasive Speeches In order to begin this piece of work we looked at persuasive speeches in our lessons. These speeches were from famous people, such as Hitler and Tony Blair. However, my personal inspiration came from a speech from Diana Princess Of Wales, entitled, 'Women and children with aids.' This acted as a style model for my final piece and gave me the basis for my ideas. As well as this it helped in my planning, as I could see which techniques were the most effective and how to craft the piece for maximum effect. My original idea was to write a persuasive speech about the very serious issue of poverty. However, I found it difficult to write a long enough speech to fit...show more content... The tone of the article is serious and reflective, however it is clear and to the point. This helps the purpose of the piece come across more clearly. The intended effect on the audience is reached as it stimulates the reader to reflect on themselves and other people, gently persuading the reader unconsciously. The structure of the article is clearly set out with a strong opening and ending. There is more descriptive language in the middle of the article as well as facts and figures used to back up statements. This makes the piece simple to read but effective at the same time. The lexis which is used is more challenging for the selected audience, 'acknowledge, desperation, judgemental.' The lexis would be much more simple compared to an article for a child. The idea of helping the 'dark shadow of poverty fade' and 'reaching the light at the end of the tunnel' are used as figurative language features. This was also used as emotive language to stimulate the audience and their emotions. The successful aspects of this article include the lexis, which I have chosen to complement the genre, the shaping of the writing to the selected audience, as well as the purpose. • 8. Persuasive Essay on Abortion Abortion has been one of the biggest controversies of all time. Many people believe it is 100% wrong and even consider it to be murder. The definition of abortion is; "The termination of pregnancy by the removal or expulsion from the uterus of a fetus or embryo prior to being capable of normal growth." These pro–life believers do not support the idea of abortion and believe it should be illegal. Many of these supporters do not know that if abortion were illegal they would still be performed, unfortunately by an uneducated staff. Over 70 thousand maternal deaths occur every year because of unsafe abortions. These women die, so the idea of supporting pro–life is contradictory, this is why the nation should be pro–choice. Pro–choice...show more content... The choice of her keeping the child would result in her getting kicked out of her home, she'd be finically unable to support the baby, and she would lose her education. With abortion she would not have to deal with these issues, though she would have to deal with the emotional aspect of deciding to terminate the pregnancy. Pro–choice supports the idea she would learn from her mistake and that ultimately it was her choice to do what she wished with her body. Even though these "Pro Life supporters" think giving up your child for adoption is a better choice than an abortion, but those children would be forced to live in an unfit foster home till they age out of the system. After they turn 18 they are out on the streets what makes the women who would rather just have an abortion have to think about when they know their child is in a foster home and probably no better off than where they would be if she would have just kept it? You have to deal with the emotional circumstances after an abortion for a while but you have to deal with not knowing what the child you gave up has to go through on a daily basis everyday of your life is a lot harder than the emotional toll of an abortion Even though many people practice pro–life because of their religion, it may be surprising to learn that catholic women are 29% more likely to get an abortion than Protestant women, though they are as likely as all women to do Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Persuasive Essay "Your assignment is to write a persuasive essay and present it to the class in a week. You will be graded based on how convincing it is. Today we will be choosing topics," announced Mr. Bowerbank, my 7th grade English teacher and ruler of classroom 110. My class simultaneously groaned at the prospect of work. I simply lifted my head with intrigue as it was already May and about time we had our first essay. He then proceeded to give examples of topics we could choose and gave us some time to think before we had to tell him our topic. My classmates were already rushing to tell the teacher their idea lest someone else steal it. That meant the usual abortion, death penalty, or drug use topics were out. I really couldn't think of anything and the teacher was slowly making his way through the remaining students like an executioner beheading criminals in a line. I have always thought that he would make a marvelous supervillain if he had a curly mustache, a tophat, and a cape. Eventually my name was called. I slowly dragged myself over to his desk. Even sitting down, he still seemed to tower over me. "What is your topic Cindy?" As usual in such desperate times, my mind turned to food. "Waffles are better than pancakes." I figured that awaffle was just a differently shaped pancake with a nicer texture. "Hmm. Excellent topic. I look forward to your essay!" I survived to live yet another day. As I walked to lunch, I went around and asked everyone the age old question: "Do you like Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Over the centuries, police brutality has been geared towards middle and lower class African American individuals and now includes Hispanics. The officers that are either responsible or involved in the altercation are still not being held accountable or stepping up to the plate and admitting their faults. Society would not view all police officers or agency as untrustworthy or incapable of providing protection to all ethnicities if the officers would be charged or just simply punished for their actions. • 13. Reflection Of A Persuasive Reflection Reflection of a Persuasive Essay by Vickie Hale In my revision, I decided to incorporate actionable feedback from the feedback I received. The feedback I received was that my essay needed more clarification, I choose to use this feedback to help make my argument more developed, I wanted to create a better thought out essay and I worked on the clarification of my argument as well as renewed my research. With that, I did some critical thinking to help work through the weak areas of my essay which was the structure and syntax. Therefore, I incorporated these suggestions because they helped me to improve my essay and help me to create a more persuasive essay. Without these changes alongside the small revisions, I made, I do not believe my essay would have been as well–written so they were much needed. My biggest challenges came from not being able to pin down my argument, it took me a while to come find a side to an argument that wasn't vague. Because, I usually write in a creative way, which does not necessarily have to be persuasive, I usually write fictional stories and people getting the understanding from the experiences of the characters is the outcome, but with persuasive writing, you are trying to get your readers to not only agree with your side of the argument but to see what and why you are arguing your side in the first place. This became difficult for me because I kept feeling like my argument was not central and a little vague. I worked on trying to help my readers understand what and why I was arguing my side of the argument. I had to think about who was reading my essay and this helped. What I could have done differently is choose a more central argument, I believe it would have reduced my challenges. This question is hard for me to answer because I did not receive but one peer feedback, the feedback I incorporated concerning my exploration of the issue was more clarification because that was one of the problems my peer review pointed out. I worked on my clarification because it is one of the main elements, that is needed when you are writing a persuasive essay or any essay for that matter. Clarification gives the essay structure so your readers can have a full understanding of your Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 15. Persuasive Essay On Concussions My first research project was the dangers and preventions of concussions in sports. Concussions can be very dangerous if you are not wearing the proper equipment and do not treat them properly. For those of you who don't know "a concussion is a type of traumatic brain injury that is caused by a blow to the head or body, a fall or another injury that jars or shakes the brain inside the skull". There are many symptoms of a concussion. "You may be suffering from a concussion if you experience dizziness, headache, off–balance, amnesia for what occurred before the head trauma, anterograde amnesia (a loss of ability to create new memories after the head trauma), difficulty concentrating, irritability and vomiting". There are many ways to help prevent concussions but here is the most effective one. To decrease the risk of concussive injuries removes players' greatest protection. Take away helmets during practices. The idea was to heighten their instinct to protect their heads, then hope that caution would carry over into real games when they wore their helmets, thereby diminishing the chance of a concussion. Here are some ways to recover quicker. If your doctor says to stay home from school or work for a few days, do it – no matter what else you have going on. Don't let anyone pressure you into something that doesn't fit in with your healing plan. Go to all your scheduled follow–up visits. Call a doctor if you have headaches that get worse or other problems that don't go away My second research project was pros of phone use in school. Many believe that phones would just be a distraction and kids would just play games on them, but they can actually be used helpfully in the classroom. Cell phones eliminate the need for students to carry calculators, cameras, and maybe even textbooks if they are available online. Also, schools can focus on other things to spend money on other than Chromebooks or laptops. Students are not just making calls, texting, and updating Facebook. They are making social connections, collaborating, researching, and sharing information. Many phone apps offer visual representations of difficult–to–grasp subjects (like astronomy, science, or anatomy) that can assist visual learners and/or Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 16. Persuasive Essay : Should Teenagers Get Jobs Less than 3 in 10 teenagers hold jobs during the summer, and this number has been on a sharp decrease since 2000 (Yen 1). This decrease is because teenagers are handed everything now, meaning don't need to work for it themselves; and because employers aren't hiring. This is an extremely low amount, because all teenagers should get jobs, in order to learn many life skills, respect, and be able to support themselves. Everyone has thought about getting a job, even if they do not have one, and the argument of whether or not teenagers should get jobs or not, is a very controversial issue. The biggest issue people see with teenagers getting jobs is that it will affect grades and participation at school, which can be true, but the key to anything is to make sure that it is done in moderation. Obviously it is true that if there is a teenager trying to work five days a week, and balance school, they will most likely struggle in school. This is especially true if they work long hours. On the other hand, if they only work for three days a week, and only a few hours each day, they can get the benefits of having a job as a teenager, and still be able to focus in school. Experts even say that having a summer job can help prevent the "educational backsliding that happens between school years for high school students" (Belsner 1), which is something that many students struggle with, because unless students study over the summer, they usually forget some of the things they learned the year Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 17. Persuasive Essay On Choices In Life I believe that everyone in this life has choices. The choices we make define who we are as people and what we stand for. Choosing one path over another may be the best or worst decision you could ever make. However, once you have chosen, stick to your decision because you made that choice for a reason. Even if it is to have lunch at a certain restaurant over another, or a bigger decision like choosing your major. Something in your life helped you make that decision, and the worst thing you can do is live your life with the regret of a choice. If your decision ends up badly, simply make another choice. Choose a new path. In the words of my oh so wise History teacher, "Never second guess yourself because that's worse than making the wrong choice in the end." One of the best examples that comes to mind is a story I heard a few weeks ago, based on a real event. In 1979, a man named Lee Strobel and his family went to a restaurant one evening and he gave his 7 year old daughter a nickel to get a gumball from the machine and a few moments later, she came back to the table choking on the gum. They didn't know what to do and if they waited for an ambulance they feared it would be too late. All of a sudden, a woman came up and said that she is a nurse and can help. The woman, after getting the gumball out of the little girl, told her parents that her and her husband were headed to another restaurant when all of a sudden she made a last minute choice to go here. Because of her choice, a little girl's life was saved. Hearing stories such as this one, reminds me of all of the choices I have made, and how they have affected me. When I was 6, my family up and moved to a new school called Knox County. I loved it there for I had so many friends and nothing bad ever happened. Then at the end of 5th grade, my dad got a new job so we moved schools again. This time I was 11 and starting middle school at a small school called Pilot Grove, and I've been here ever since. There are times I catch myself wondering what would've happened if we had stayed in Knox or the first town I ever lived in, Philadelphia (no not the one in Pennsylvania). Sometimes I even believe that things would be a lot better if we had stayed there. There are Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 18. Persuasive Essay On Global Free Trade There is no doubt that free trade was a benefit to our economy as it opened up many new markets in the world. Free trade allowed consumers the opportunity to receive better quality goods and services at less expensive prices. However, even though it seemed like it provided many benefits to our society, was it really beneficial to Americas economy? Free trade indeed globalized our economy, but it also started the of deindustrialization of America. Our society and economy is weakening at a rapid rate thus lowering our status in the world and bringing us to danger. If America wants to continue focusing on global free trade, we need to focus on better tactics to prevent us from losing more industries. To decrease our unemployment rate, we need focus on creating jobs for our citizens. Manufacturing was once the economic growth engine of United States and represented more than 28% of jobs. However, from 1962 to 2014, the rate dramatic dropped to 8% (CPA). As we continue to open new markets and expand businesses in foreign countries, we are losing our smaller businesses and driving them out the market (Johnson). Why are we assisting other countries in creating more jobs in their economy, when we should be focusing on creating new jobs for our citizens. We have destroyed US manufacturing and have lost more than 100,000 factories since 2000 (CPA). The tactic we used in free trade was clearly poor and sold America out. Our "trading partners" basically stole our ideas as we decided to open new markets in their country. Technology that was created by American companies are being reproduced in foreign countries while they violate our patent and copyright laws. They undervalue these brands in the market in order to bankrupt the US market even more. They are placing a toll in US competition and ruining our market (CPA). Obviously, if we do not have a competitive advantage against another country in a certain good or service, then it only makes sense to eliminate those industries and jobs. For example, China produces almost half of the worlds goods and the textile industry in China is one of the largest in the world. It wouldn't make sense for us to compete with them in the market because consumers would continue to Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 19. Persuasive Essay On Health Care Is healthcare a basic human right, or a privilege? This is the fundamental underlying question that must be answered if we are to make any meaningful progress on healthcare reform in this country. Until then, it will not be possible to reach a consensus on the ultimate goal of healthcare reform. And without defining the goal, measuring success will be impossible. History of Healthcare in the United States This debate however, is not a new one. It has been raging at the core of healthcare reform efforts in the United States for over a century. Up until the early 20th century the U.S. federal government did not finance or provide health care to the public. In 1915 the first bill of it its kind was drafted to provide state medical benefits to low income workers. Over the next 45 years successive presidents made various attempts at advancing bills that would have implemented a national health care system. However, none were able to gain the necessary support in Congress. This was often due to opponents characterizing these systems as "socialized medicine." [8] Proponents of this system continued to advocate for government–funded health insurance and shifted their focus to providing coverage for Americans over the age of 65 and the poor. [106]By the early 1960s, Medicare (the Social Security Act Amendments of 1965), a bill that would extend Social Security to cover the medical bills of Americans over the age of 65 was passed and signed into law by President Lyndon B. Johnson. Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 20. Persuasive Essay On Physician Assisted Suicide The word suicide gives many people negative feelings and is a socially taboo subject. However, suicide might be beneficial to terminally ill patients. Physician– assisted suicide has been one of the most controversial modern topics. Many wonder if it is morally correct to put a terminally ill patient out of their misery. Physicians should be able to meet the requests of their terminally ill patients. Unfortunately, a physician can be doing more harm by keeping someone alive instead of letting them die peacefully. For example, an assisted suicide can bring comfort to patients. These patients are in excruciating pain and will eventually perish. The government should not be involved in such a personal decision. A physician– assisted suicide comes with many benefits for the patient. If a person is terminally ill and wants a physician assisted suicide, then they should receive one. Physician– assisted suicide was first popularized in 1997 by the Oregon Death with Dignity Act (ODDA) . This act states that a physician has the power to prescribe a lethal amount of medication to terminally ill patients. However, the patients must have the knowledge of upcoming death. In order to receive the medication the patient must, be over eighteen years of age, a resident of Oregon, and must orally ask for the prescription twice. The oral requests must be fifteen days apart. The patient's physician and a consulting physician must agree that the patient is mentally capable of making such a Get more content on HelpWriting.net
