CASE 1: The City Mayor, where the company is located, send his two-former made to the
general manager for a possible job opening, then the general manager endorses them to the HR
Manager.
If you are the HR Manager what are you going to do?
A. ACCEPTING the endorsed applicants.
ADVANTAGES of accepting the endorsed applicants.
 It will build a good relationship with the City Mayor, and will benefit my company in
terms of when processing business permits, etc.
 They may be skilled and highly-qualified enough to be recommended by a City Mayor.

DISADVANTAGES of accepting the endorsed applicants.
 Limits the number of potential applicants outside.
 Reduce promotion opportunities, may affect the productivity.
 There may be no possible vacancy to be fill-in.
 May result of manpower surplus.
 The company will somehow be involved in politics.
B. NOT ACCEPTING the endorsed applicants.
ADVANTAGES of not accepting the endorsed applicants.
 Your company will be free from any political activities.
 You can find the best qualified person in the position.
 You will be fair to the other applicants, especially to those who aren’t endorsed by
anyone.
DISADVANTAGES of not accepting the endorsed applicants.
 You will create a bad reputation with the City Mayor.
 The City Mayor will no longer endorse anyone in your company
FINAL ANSWER
If I were the HR MANAGER, the alternative course of action that I will choose is LETTER A.
ACCEPTING the endorsed applicants. Why?
1. It will benefit not only me but the company itself in line with any business with the City
Mayor.
2. The applicants may be skilled and highly-experienced.
But as an HR MANAGER, I will still go under process of SELECTION AND SCREENING, to
be fair, if they are truly qualified to work under our company. If they are, I will gladly accept
them. If they are not, I will explain it clearly to them and to the person whom endorsed them
why I m not accepting them in our company.
CASE 2: Your company in need of an office staff. Your best and trusted friend recommend
one, but there is another one applicant who is better. As HR manager, will you hire the
recommended one?
A. Accepting the recommended applicant.
ADVANTAGES of accepting the recommended applicant.
 It will sustain your good relationship to your friend.
 There’s a possibility that the recommended applicant has a wider range of experienced
as an office staff.
 The applicant is not coming in just any person, it is recommended by your TRUSTED
FRIEND, you can rest-assured that the applicant is not competent.
DISADVANTAGES of accepting the recommended applicant.
 It will consume time in training and orientation if the recommended applicant is not
efficient and not familiar with the job.
 There’s a larger talent pool of candidate that will not have an opportunity.
B. Accepting the better applicant.
ADVANTAGES of accepting the better applicant.
 May be skilled or expert.
 Increases the chance that the business will be able to recruit the skills it needs.
 Lessen the time of training and orientation.
DISADVANTAGES of accepting the better applicant.
 It will be resulting from not recommending new applicant coming from your best
friend.
 Destroys incentive of present employees to strive for promotion.
 Your friend will no longer trust you.
 It will somehow end your friendship.
FINAL ANSWER
If I were the HR MANAGER, I will choose the alternative course of action of Accepting the
recommended applicant. (Letter A).
From the terms BEST and TRUSTED friend, you will rest-assured that the recommended
applicant is not just an ordinary applicant, it may be competent and skilled enough to be
recommend by your TRUSTED friend.
By accepting the recommended applicant, you will still have you good relationship with your
Best friend.

If you are the HR Manager what are you going to do? A. ACCEPTING the endorsed applicants. ADVANTAGES of accepting the endorsed applicants.  It will build a good relationship with the City Mayor, and will benefit my company in terms of when processing business permits, etc.  They may be skilled and highly-qualified enough to be recommended by a City Mayor.  DISADVANTAGES of accepting the endorsed applicants.  Limits the number of potential applicants outside.  Reduce promotion opportunities, may affect the productivity.  There may be no possible vacancy to be fill-in.  May result of manpower surplus.  The company will somehow be involved in politics. B. NOT ACCEPTING the endorsed applicants. ADVANTAGES of not accepting the endorsed applicants.  Your company will be free from any political activities.  You can find the best qualified person in the position.  You will be fair to the other applicants, especially to those who aren’t endorsed by anyone. DISADVANTAGES of not accepting the endorsed applicants.  You will create a bad reputation with the City Mayor.  The City Mayor will no longer endorse anyone in your company
  • 3. FINAL ANSWER If I were the HR MANAGER, the alternative course of action that I will choose is LETTER A. ACCEPTING the endorsed applicants. Why? 1. It will benefit not only me but the company itself in line with any business with the City Mayor. 2. The applicants may be skilled and highly-experienced. But as an HR MANAGER, I will still go under process of SELECTION AND SCREENING, to be fair, if they are truly qualified to work under our company. If they are, I will gladly accept them. If they are not, I will explain it clearly to them and to the person whom endorsed them why I m not accepting them in our company.
  • 4. CASE 2: Your company in need of an office staff. Your best and trusted friend recommend one, but there is another one applicant who is better. As HR manager, will you hire the recommended one? A. Accepting the recommended applicant. ADVANTAGES of accepting the recommended applicant.  It will sustain your good relationship to your friend.  There’s a possibility that the recommended applicant has a wider range of experienced as an office staff.  The applicant is not coming in just any person, it is recommended by your TRUSTED FRIEND, you can rest-assured that the applicant is not competent. DISADVANTAGES of accepting the recommended applicant.  It will consume time in training and orientation if the recommended applicant is not efficient and not familiar with the job.  There’s a larger talent pool of candidate that will not have an opportunity. B. Accepting the better applicant. ADVANTAGES of accepting the better applicant.  May be skilled or expert.  Increases the chance that the business will be able to recruit the skills it needs.  Lessen the time of training and orientation. DISADVANTAGES of accepting the better applicant.  It will be resulting from not recommending new applicant coming from your best friend.  Destroys incentive of present employees to strive for promotion.  Your friend will no longer trust you.  It will somehow end your friendship.
  • 5. FINAL ANSWER If I were the HR MANAGER, I will choose the alternative course of action of Accepting the recommended applicant. (Letter A). By accepting the recommended applicant, you will still have you good relationship with your Best friend.
