PARK SLOPE, BROOKLYN (SEPTEMBER, 2006) – Perch Café and Bar was established in December 2005 by
Deirdre Jones, Beth Weinstein, Bruce Bjork and Bryan Grundon and has made its nest in the busy and booming Park
Slope community. Located at 365 5th Avenue, nestled between 5th and 6th Street, Perch has in one year successfully
appealed to every part of the diverse Brooklyn population. With its prominent red exterior and sleek modern style it
is the perfect setting for the coffee drinking web browser or the evening cocktail taster. Offering a healthy menu, a
fully stocked bar with lounge, diverse events for all ages and a beautiful back patio Perch has quickly become
synonymous with comfort food and community; a local refuge for neighborhood residents, parents and kids.
The Perch Café offers a wide range of menu items for both dine-in and to-go guests. Using a simple philosophy and
the best ingredients Perch combines new American slow food cooking with a touch of European flare to meet even
the pickiest of palettes. It’s home cooked flavor, clean rustic appearance and ample servings are complemented by
a variety of micro brew beers, organic wines and innovative cocktails. Daily specials, dinner entrees, niche brunch
items and a fun-filled kids menu keeps all patrons full and satisfied.
The activities at Perch are as diverse as they are entertaining from Kids Karaoke to Puppet Storytelling - Live Jazz to
World Music, there is always a little something for everyone. Monday thru Wednesday, Randy Kaplan and
Courtney Kaiser can single handedly wrangle a crowd of kids and adults in a joyous romp with their instrumental
beat and innovative songs. Thursdays, Anna and her handmade puppets hold court and grab undivided attention.
As the days turn to nights the Perch Bar and back lounge comes alive with nightly tunes that range from innovative
Jazz to Punk Cabaret. Literary night, Open Mic and much more entertain all ages and types in the warmth and
community of Perch Café and Bar.

and Bar in Park Slope, Brooklyn. Being a mother of two Deirdre wanted to create a family friendly establishment
that appealed to people of all ages.

Bruce studied writing and theology at NYU and Columbia University before starting his cabinetry business, Bjork

BETH WEINSTEIN (ARCHITECT):
Before creating Architecture Agency Beth spent six years in the Paris office of Jean Nouvel. She also worked with E
Torres in Barcelona, and, in New York, with Asymptote, Tod Williams + Billie Tsien, Richard Meier, SOM, and in
artnership with David Riebe. Beth received a BFA from Syracuse University and a Master of Architecturp
Columbia University, and since 2002 h
She received the Architectural League's Young Architect award in 1990 and the Casa de Velázquez Artist in
Residence Grant from the French government in 1994. Beth has also received awards from the Dallas AIA and for
an urban proposal for Sunset Park, Brooklyn. Perch Café and Bar is once again another successful collaboration
between Architecture Agency and Bjork Carle Woodworking.
RANDY KAPLAN (ARTIST – SING A LONGS):
Randy has been a music teacher at Beansprouts and Special Sprouts in Park Slope, Brooklyn since June 2004. He
conducts private classes in area neighborhood, guitar lessons, and performs at birthday parties and events such as
e annual Park Slope Parents Picnic. His diverse repertoth
blues, folk, and jazz; show-tunes; humorous adaptations of rock ‘n roll
often performs at The Living Room in Manhattan and at other venues throughout the country. He has currently
released five CD’s with a new children’s record to be released in fall of 2006.
COURTNEY KAISER (ARTIST – SING A LONGS):
Courtney was classically trained in opera through her studies at Interlochen Arts Academy and the music school at
Indiana University. Along with her studies of western classical music, she has also studied various world music
