Edinboro Art & Music Festival scheduled May 15 to 18
Celebrating 10 years!
Annual event features live bands, artisans’ market, children’s activities and more
EDINBORO, PA — The Downtown Edinboro Art & Music Festival, one of
southern Erie County’s only free public art and music festivals, is scheduled to take
place from Thursday, May 15 through Sunday, May 18 in various locations
throughout Edinboro, PA. This four-day event is held each year during the third
weekend of May.
Opening Reception and Art Show
On Friday, May 16, an opening reception, art show and auction, co-hosted by
Parker's Gallery and Catwater Who Signature Gallery, from 7 to 9 p.m. at 111 Erie
Street, Edinboro. The reception will include live music by Born Old, as well as an art
show featuring work inspired by Appalachia, Edinboro or music.
Artists will exhibit in a variety of mediums including painting, photography, pottery
and fiber. Participating artists include: Sara Adams, John Alexander, Carol Posch
Comstock, Patti Fowler, Rick Gilson, Amy Hahn, Mary Hamilton, Becky Hetz, Bill
Joslin, Toni Kelly, Mary Miller, Martha Mueller, Victoria Norvaisa, Marie Novak,
Jack Paluh, Kathy Travis, Kathy Welte, Eliza Wolfe, and more. The University,
Patron and Sponsor Awards will be presented that evening.
This year's auction will again feature artwork, wine and spirits, and other packages.
Mark Tanenbaum will serve as auctioneer. Auction items include: a one-of-a-kind
Bamboo Forest Necklace with diamonds by Aileen Lampman of Ai Jewelry; artwork
by local artists; old world and new world wine selections; golf package with four
high-end bottles of Jack Daniel's whiskey, golf for four at Culbertson Hills Golf
Resort and other Jack Daniel's themed items. New this year we will have four large
themed gift baskets that will be raffled off.
Musical Performances
The festival includes live music every day. Performances and activities start at 9 p.m.
on Thursday; 6 p.m. on Friday; and 11 a.m. on Saturday; Sunday 11:30 a.m., and
continue into the night. Performers include festival headliners and fan favorites like
Donna the Buffalo, who performs on Thursday evening at 10:30 p.m. at Culbertson
Hills Golf Resort and returns on Sunday to play with Jim Lauderdale in the
performance tent at Goodell Gardens.
Other performers include: Stewed Mulligan, Potwhole, Demijohn, The Pearsons,
Jake & Rick, Tiger Maple Stringband, Eric Brewer & Friends, Big Daddy Zydeco
with Preston Frank, Justin Moyer, Jim Avett, Birds & Crows, The Bang, Blue Sky
Mission Club, Born Old, Alan Freeman & Bob Shank, The Weedrags, Jim Donovan,
Honey Spine, Blake & Dean, Red Dog Run, Claire Stuczynski, Driftwood, Lori &
Fred, Amanda & Bill, The Double EE, Wellstrung, and Salmon Frank.
The performances will take place at various venues throughout Edinboro including:
Culbertson Hills Golf Resort, Goodell Gardens performance barn and performance
tent, The Edinboro Hotel, Eclectic Etceteras Coffee House, Edinboro Lake Resort,
and The Crossroads Dinor.
There will be two jam tents this year. One will be located in downtown Edinboro,
next to John’s Wildwood Pizza with an open jam all afternoon and with Howard
Blumenthal from 5:00 – 8:30 p.m. on Friday, May 16. The second jam tent will be
located at Goodell Gardens, with an open jam with Howard Blumenthal on Saturday,
from 3:00 – 5 p.m., May 18. Musicians are encouraged to bring their instruments to
jam with performers and other musicians throughout both days. For additional
seating at Goodell Gardens only, attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or
blankets.
Artisans’ Market
An Artisans' Market will be held at Goodell Gardens on Saturday, May 17 from 11
a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday May 18 from 11a.m. to 4p.m. In addition to displaying and
selling their work, several of the artists will perform live demonstrations of their art
form. Confirmed artists include: Aileen Lampman, jewelry: Amy Hahn, mosaics;
John Alexander, oil paintings; Ed Wentling, Bayou Blues Guitars; Woodturned
Creations; Keith Hershberger, wood fired pottery; Marie Novak, fiber arts; The
Buttercup & Thistle, soaps; Jane Waxenfelter, JPW Pottery; Kathy Welte,
photography; Boro Blacksmith; TJ Gallery Glass, jewelry; Wendy Mosbacher,
polymer clay; Rose Baker, mixed media arts; Ginny Keim, One-of-Keim, jewelry;
Abby Diamond, drawings & illustrations; Christine Salva, dot art creations;
ACK.Create, fused glass; Anne Ingersoll, pottery; George Lampman, metal
sculptures; Linda Flatley, Mamayo journals; Heather Cash, paintings and
illustrations; Paul Wegweiser, metal sculptures; Sarah Schoolcraft, fiber and mixed
media jewelry; NWPA Spinners & Weavers Guild; Debbie Gast, La Jardin
Furnishings, chalk painted furniture.
The Artisans' Tent will include locally crafted food vendors Conneauttee Creamery,
Beelzebub's Salsa, Hurry Hill Farms Maple Syrup, Kirk Johnson Honey and
Edinboro Hotel Bar food and refreshments.
Workshops
The Downtown Edinboro Art & Music Festival will hold free workshops for children
and adults. These workshops will include: beginning fiddle, banjo, mandolin, yoga,
intermediate fiddle, mountain dulcimer, ukulele, power pilates, square dance, chant
drum circle, gospel sing, and hula hoop.
Children’s Activities
Children’s activities will be held in the Children’s Tent at Goodell Gardens on
Saturday, May 17 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Sunday, May 18 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Children’s workshops will include: painting, rain sticks, clay, caricature, watercolor
resist, sing-a-long, painted & planted flower pots and hand built pinch pots.
