Soccer's popularity is declining for three main reasons:
1. Younger generations are losing interest in soccer and engaging with other sports and forms of entertainment instead.
2. The quality of matches has deteriorated as teams focus more on tactics than excitement.
3. Soccer organizations are not innovating or marketing the sport effectively to attract new audiences.
The Downfall of Manchester United
Manchester United has struggled this season, performing worse than in previous years. They have lost several key matches and fallen behind in the league standings. Several star players have been injured or are not performing to their abilities. Unless things turn around quickly, they may fail to qualify for European competition next season for the first time in decades.

Over time, English rule significantly impacted India through imposed policies and cultural influences. However, India also left its mark on England through the spread of Indian cuisine and other aspects of culture. The relationship between colonizer and colonized is complex, with both sides experiencing change under imperial rule.

People managers in IT service change managementHigherEdITMgt
ITIL doesn’t speak to the role of the functional manager in IT service change management. And yet, prior to change management, functional managers usually set their team’s rules for changing production.
Clearly defining the role of functional managers in change management will help you implement or improve your process.
Learn how functional managers can help change management become more flexible to the needs of different IT teams without sacrificing quality--such as through defining managers’ authority and their on-going responsibilities, their role in change auditing and enforcement, and the decisions that managers can make within the change management process.
This document provides guidance on getting and staying physically active for heart health. It recommends doing a total of at least 30 minutes of moderate physical activity on most days of the week. Some of the many benefits of regular physical activity mentioned include reducing the risk of heart disease, stroke, high blood pressure, diabetes, and obesity. Both long-term health benefits and short-term quality of life improvements can result from incorporating more activity into one's daily routine. The document offers tips for how to build activity into daily life without needing to join a gym.

IT project management: the process of last resortHigherEdITMgt
The roles and duties of IT project management depend greatly on the maturity of other IT processes. For example, if no change management process exists then project management must “pick up the slack” and, for each project, identify how to move deliverables into production.
However, for project managers and project teams, they often do not notice these other processes are missing and they can become frustrated that projects require so much work that seems immaterial to the task at hand: defining access policies, for example, or training the Service Desk.
At the same time, the role and expectations of project managers and project teams will vary wildly over time as related processes are developed and improved. Project management maturity is also dependent on other processes: an immature request intake process can limit portfolio management’s predictive ability, for example.
One way of thinking about project management is it ends up being the “process of last resort”–project management will get the work done (somehow), even if no other processes exist. Project management is often the first IT management process that departments consciously build, and can be a key source of ideas for process improvement.
Iterative itsm implementation using TeamDynamixHigherEdITMgt
This document outlines John Borwick's iterative implementation of the TeamDynamix IT service management tool at Virginia Tech University Libraries over several improvements. It began with a bare-bones implementation allowing users to submit tickets and IT staff to update them. Subsequent improvements included adding user surveys, verification reports, a new employee request form, service level targets, procedures for takedown notices, and integrating major incident notifications with PagerDuty. The iterative approach allowed for continuous learning and improvement compared to a traditional waterfall implementation.
IT governance helps customers and providers talk about value, costs, and risks–three key components in the definition of an IT service.
IT service management can support IT governance by making IT more transparent, by adding control points for governance, and by better connecting what IT does to what the institution most needs. Conversely, IT governance can support IT service management by advocating for IT services and by providing a high-level decision-making framework, firm commitments, policies, and architectural standards.
We’ll briefly review what IT governance is, and then talk about the role of specific IT service management processes in supporting IT governance–processes such as IT service portfolio management, IT financial management, IT supplier management, IT change management, and IT continual service improvement. We’ll also briefly introduce how COBIT 5 can help ITIL practitioners connect service management capabilities to IT governance.
This document provides guidance on effectively implementing professional learning communities (PLCs) in schools. It defines a PLC as a group of educators committed to collaborating to improve student learning. Key aspects of effective PLCs include having a shared focus on learning, working interdependently in teams to achieve goals, engaging in collective inquiry to improve practices, and being oriented toward achieving continuous improvement. The document outlines that the goal of PLCs is to ensure high levels of learning for all students and describes structures and commitments needed to function as an effective PLC, including clarifying what students must learn, monitoring learning, and providing support for students.
Problems are Treasures: Building ITIL Problem Management and a Problem-Solvin...HigherEdITMgt
Wake Forest University has used an evolutionary approach to implement ITIL problem management. Service desk pilots led to a yearlong problem management implementation, a problem advisory board, and a permanent "problem manager." For this implementation, over 30 IT leaders participated in the "Building a Problem-Solving Culture" workshops to discuss "lean" cultural changes needed for effective problem management: building a culture of safety and trust, empowering staff to understand and solve problems, and thinking of problems as "treasures." This presentation will cover lessons learned from implementing ITIL problem management and how process improvements can support larger IT management initiatives.
A 38-year-old man was brought to the health center due to seizures that started in his right arm and progressed to his right leg and then his whole body. This has been occurring for 3 months around 3 times per month. The patient also complains of frequent headaches and feeling unsteady when walking or holding things as his right hand and leg feel weak. Based on the symptoms, differential diagnoses include stroke, brain tumor, and brain abscess. Further tests like CT scan or MRI are needed to confirm the diagnosis.
The service desk as a strategic functionHigherEdITMgt
Service Desks are traditionally thought of as a cost center–something to outsource or to minimize.
This presentation will review why Service Desks are thought of as cost centers, and argue for thinking about your Service Desk as a potential area for investment.
Why invest in the Service Desk? The Service Desk triggers expensive IT processes. The Service Desk is the face of IT–and customer stories affect perception more than service level reviews. Many internal IT areas lack the voice of the customer; the Service Desk is one of the few areas that can speak credibly on behalf of the customer. The information collected by the Service Desk can identify potential opportunities for continual service improvement, grounded in the user experience.
ITIL Demand Management: why August is a bad time for a presentationHigherEdITMgt
Demand management, the ITIL Service Strategy counterpoint to capacity management, explains a big part of why we’re all busy in August. This presentation will highlight the costs of ineffective demand management, connect ITIL demand management to the Lean manufacturing’s concept of “mura,” and then show techniques for how to understand and communicate demand to IT staff, how to plan for demand, and how to influence demand in a higher education environment.
