This 12-day tour of South India visits several iconic locations, starting in Kochi and ending in Goa. The itinerary includes experiencing Kathakali dance in Kochi, exploring historic sites in Cochin, wildlife viewing at Periyar Tiger Reserve and Mudumalai Sanctuary, cruising the backwaters of Alleppey, visiting hill stations in Ooty and Coimbatore, sightseeing highlights of Mysore like the palace and temples, and ending the trip with beaches and sights in Goa. The package costs $999 per person and includes accommodation, breakfast, some meals, transportation and sightseeing activities.

2. Day 1&2 Day 1 ; Feb 1 st 2008: Arrive Kochi (Cochin) and check in at the hotel. Late afternoon witness the Kathakali dance performance - Kathakali is a unique dance which has a 2000 year old history with more than 100 different ‘mudras’ or gesture depicting deities, demons, heros, heroines and kings - each based on episodes from the Mahabharata and Ramayana, the two epic Indian myths. Morning sightseeing tour of Cochin or "Kochi" the palm green, commercial capital of Kerala which has one of the finest natural harbours & is known as the "Queen of the Arabian Sea". From time immemorial, Arabs, Chinese, Dutch, British & Portuguese seafarers followed the sea route to Kochi & left their impression on the town. Modern Kochi is thus a splendid mosaic of these myriad influences. Sight seeing includes, Visit to the Dutch Palace, the Jewish Synagogue, the Church of St. Francis & the famous Chinese fishing nets. Evening free to explore this beautiful town on your own. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 3&4 Day 03; Feb 3 rd 2008 : Cochin – Periyar (175 Kms ,4 hrs) In the morning drive to Periyar, Periyar - Sprawling across 777 sq. kms. of the Cardamom Hills along the Western Ghats, .On arrival check in at the hotel. Evening cruise on Periyar Lake in the cool surroundings and the panorama spread around - tropical jungles, where you can get a glimpse of wild elephants, Indian Gaur. Overnight at the hotel. Day 04; Feb 4 th 2008: Periyar to Alleppey (170 Kms , 3 1/2 Hrs) Afternoon, drive to Allepey and board the traditional rice boats - “Kettuvallam” for a fascinating cruise through the backwaters of Kerala which offer one of the world’s truly unforgettable experiences. These traditional houseboats of Kerala are one of the most enduring images of the backwaters, its natural, cocoon-like profile complementing the surrounding countryside. You can relax on the sundeck and watch the way of life and activity of the local people, sipping from a tender coconut and enjoying the sheer peace of the surroundings. 4. Day 5&6 Day 05; Feb 5 th 2008: Alleppey to Coimbatore (185 Kms , 5 hrs). In the morning check out from the house boat and drive to Coimbatore, the industrial city. Get together / Social to be hosted by Coimbatore tablers. Over night in the hotel ( Hotel Alankar Grande). Day 06; Feb 6 th 2008: Coimbatore to Ooty ( 100 Kms , 2 ½Hrs ): Morning drive to Ooty . Upon arrival, check-in at hotel . Ooty is known as the Queen of Hill stations. It nestles in the Nilgiri Hills at an altitude of 2300 m. Ooty still maintains its definite air of elegance and there are British Raj reminders everywhere-notably in the stone cottages with flower gardens, the beautiful Botanical gardens (1840), the Churches, tea gardens and eucalyptus plantations. In the afternoon Sightseeing tour of Ooty visiting BOTANICAL GARDENS & the OOTY LAKE .This garden was laid out in 1847 by the Marquis of Tweedale and is spread over 55 acres. 5. Day 7&8 Day 07; Feb7th 2008: Ooty – Mudumalai ( Project Tiger reserve) (50 Kms , 1 Hour) After breakfast drive to Mudumalai a Project TIGER reserve . View the wildlife enroute and a wild life safari included. Overnight in the Hotel ( Jungle retreat or similar). Mudumalai wildlife sanctuary is home to The Tiger, Leopard, Gaur, Elephant, Wild dogs etc. Situated amidst the blue mountains of the Nilgiri in Tamil Nadu, It is a former British township that pulls thousands of tourists every year by its sheer beauty. (Hotel – Jungle Hut Retreat) Day 08 ;Feb 8 th 2008: Mudumalai – Mysore (100 Kms ,2 ½ Hrs) After breakfast drive to Mysore en route visit Srirangapatnam, from this small Island fortress - town straddling the river Cauvery . 6. Day 9&10 Day 09 ;Feb 9 th 2008 : Mysore Morning visit the beautiful city of Mysore, that is known for its fine craftsmanship in wood, ivory, sandal-wood and for its silk. Visit the Mysore Palace - Built in Indo-Saracenic style with domes, turrets, arches and colonnades, it is a treasure house of exquisite carvings and works of art from all over the world. Intricately carved doors open onto luxuriously furnished rooms.. The walled palace complex houses the Residential Museum, temples and shrines, including the Shwetha Varahswamy Temple . The magnificently jewel-studded golden throne , the pride of the ruling Wodeyar family, is displayed here during the Dussehra festival. Then proceed to the Chamundi Temple on a hill above the city. Morning drive to Bangalore sightseeing tour of Bangalore - city with its centuries old trees, sub tropical herbs and well laid out gardens. Drive past the impressive building of the ‘ Vidhana Souda ’ (Secretariat). Continue onwards to the ‘Palace of Tipu Sultan ’. It was started by Hyder Ali and completed by Tipu Sultan. Within are gloriously painted walls, ceilings, and balconies in red, black and gold. Visit the ‘ Nandi Bull Temple ’. 7. Day 11&12 Day 11 ;Feb11th 2008: Bangalore- Goa. Depart to Goa in the morning by flight or by train on arrival check in at the hotel and rest of the day at lesuire ,overnight at the hotel ( Silla Goa , Sunkist hotel or similar). Day 12 ;Feb 12 th 2008: Goa. After breakfast proceed for the sight seeing trip to north Goa & south Goa. In the evening enjoy sunset cruise in river mandovi over night at the hotel. Day 13 ; Feb 13 th 2008 ; Check out from the hotel and proceed to the airport.
