INTRODUCTION
 Mother Dairy, manufactures, markets & sells milk and milk products including cultured
products, ice creams, paneer and ghee under the Mother Dairy brand.
 It was set up in 1974, as a wholly owned subsidiary of the National Dairy Development
Board (NDDB) of India, under the Operation Flood Programme.
 The dairy was established on behalf of the Govt. of India, Ministry of Agriculture.
 It is Mother Dairy’s constant endeavor to ensure that milk producers and farmers
regularly and continually receive market prices by offering quality milk, milk products
and other food products to consumers at competitive prices.

PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT PROCESS
 The product is developed after thorough market analysis and consumer preferences
 New Product Development process includes Concept Development, Lab trials, Shelf life
Studies, Consumer Research
 They select quality ingredients from reputed manufacturers across the globe meeting all
Quality and Food Safety requirements.
 R&D Scientists monitor and control first few batches of commercial production to ensure
conceptualized quality.
PRODUCTION SYSTEM
 Processing of milk is controlled by process automation: microprocessor technology is
adopted to integrate and completely automate all functions
 There are four ways of milk processing
 Clarification
 Standardization
 Homogenization
 Pasteurization
INNOVATION
 Mother Dairy established its Innovation Centre, in April 2010 at its central location in
Delhi
 Mother Dairy’s R&D Team is continually engaged into development of novel products
 The major thrust has been on developing functional foods targeting consumers’ health
& wellness
 Packaging innovations are also taken up at Innovation Centre with various packaging
materials
PRODUCT QUALITY CONTROL METHODOLOGIES
 Mother Dairy maintains stringent measures to ensure the quality and purity of the milk provided to its
consumers
 The milk is tested for adulterations and quality at the time of collection from the farmers
 The Milk that comes from the collection points to the Mother Dairy plant is ensured to have a
temperature of not more than 4°C
 The Milk quality is checked repeatedly after each processing phase and the temperature is judiciously
maintained less than 4°C always
 Before the milk leaves the plant for the delivery/distribution outlets the milk is tested again
 The temperature of milk in the delivery trucks is always maintained less than 4°C

 Employees are the assets of any organization & Human Resource Department can be seen in each and
every department of any organization.
 The function of Human Resource Management is to manage the people working in the organization.
 Human Resource Management in simple words means planning, organizing, directing and controlling
 Mother Dairy shares collaborative and friendly relationship with preferred partners, employees, consumers
and other workers involved to it.
 In Mother Dairy major attention is given on the welfare and Safety of employees.

and bacteriological tests.

• Mother Dairy was the first Dairy in the country to implement ISO-14031 (Environment Performance Evaluation)
project. The company’s Quality Assurance Laboratory is ISO/IEC- 17025:1999 certified by NABL (National
Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratory), Department of Science & Technology, India.
• The Dairy has ZERO fatal accident since the date of its inception which shows the level of overall quality they
maintain.
