The historic Checkered House Bridge in Richmond, Vermont underwent a widening project to expand its width from 20 feet to 30 feet. Engineers from Finley Engineering Group developed a innovative system to widen the bridge by cutting and moving the entire north truss chord 12.5 feet using a hydraulic jack and roller system. Over two days, the 65-ton north truss was carefully moved into its new position at a rate of 2 feet per hour. Approximately 120 tons of new steel was added to join the trusses in the widened section while preserving 80% of the original bridge's steel members. The $13.9 million project is scheduled to reopen the bridge to traffic in June 2013 while maintaining the bridge's historic integrity.

At over 1 mile long, it was the longest in the world until 1964 and demonstrates the advantages of suspension bridges to cross long spans over water.

Butterfly bridge sannam kalra
The Butterfly Bridge is a footbridge over a section of the river used for rowing in Bedford, UK. It was opened in 1998 after an architectural competition and cost notably more than expected. The bridge has twin steel arches that are inclined like butterfly wings to provide an open but contained feeling on the deck. The bridge was intended to replace a temporary pontoon bridge used during festivals but is actually used in addition to the temporary bridge.
I-64 Kanawha River Bridge
The I-64 Kanawha River Bridge is a 2,975 foot long, post-tensioned concrete box girder bridge in Kanawha County, West Virginia that carries I-64 eastbound traffic. It has a record-setting main span of 760 feet. The bridge was completed ahead of schedule and opened in 2010. The post-tensioned concrete design was chosen over steel alternatives due to being over $30 million cheaper in bids.
