This document discusses extracting relation cardinalities (numbers that express the size of a relation) from text. It presents a method using conditional random fields for distant supervision to label number tokens with relations in sentences. This allows estimating the number of relation triples for subjects. Challenges include the incomplete knowledge bases used for distant supervision and compositional/linguistic issues in expressions of cardinalities. Evaluation on 4 relations showed the method outperforms a random baseline.
