Introduction of Author
 Marry Shelly was born in 1797.
 William Godwin, the Author or political
Justice was father of Marry Shelly.
 Frankenstein was written in 1818.
About the Novel
 It is a Gothic novel prevailing darkness and
the suspense of the reality and combination
of science fiction and classical horror.
 Shelly has created the sense of being haunted
and also created by creation of the Monster.
Victor Frankenstein as a
creator
 Frankenstein learns about modern science
within very short span of time he excels all
Professors.
 Was fascinated with the “secret of life”
 By Chemistry and electricity he has animated
a dead body and created a monster
Monster’s ugly look
 The creation of Frankenstein was horrible.
 His appearance or devil, who later on tended to ruin
the peace of Frankenstein’s personal life. And it
shows despair into the Frankenstein’s creation.
Monster as a helpful of
others that is ‘hope’
In ch-3 and ch-4…
monster reports his high hopes as he deeds
for others, particularly for his “Neighbor’s s”
outside of whose house he lived, unknown to
them.
From paradise lost
“happy, happy earth’ fit habitation for gods…
the present was tranquil and the future gilded
by bright rays hope, and anticipation of joy”.
‘Despair’ by hasty discovery
of the Monster.
 After the creation of monster soon he
disappeared from laboratory. He ruins
Frankenstein’s peace of mind and his family
life.
 Monster’s horror could be seen in terms of
the series of murders done by him.

Creation of the lady monster
 Monster wanted to create a lady monster to
accompany him.
 That was ‘hope’ for monster and ‘Despair’ for

 Because it becomes disastrous for the
humanity.
Victor’s end that is the end
of the creator
 After taking the revenge of killing of
Frankenstein’s nears and dears. He chased his
creation towards north.
 Victor was died of illness.
 And monster also died with his creator.
 And left the reads with many contrasting
interpretations of victor and science.
Conclusion
 Thus, the novel is largely shaped by the contrast
between hubristic hopes and human despair.
 This hope and despair is comes one by one
into the novel.
 We can not say that end of the novel is either
hope or despair.
