Panoptix is a Big Data consultancy that helps customers build and run Big Data platforms. They have recently started marketing their new product called BBOX, which is a network monitoring and performance testing appliance. BBOX has been installed with 8 local companies and will soon be trialed by a large insurance company in Namibia. The primary use case for BBOX is measuring response times from branch sites to data centers across various sectors like automotive, ISPs, manufacturing, mining, and rail. All BBOX data is centrally reported through Panoptix's Hotrod Big Data Framework using a cloud-based Docker architecture.

Panoptix is a turn-key Big Data consultancy. We help our partners and
customers to plan, build and run cutting edge Big Data platforms while getting
the most out of popular Big Data products and Open Source Software
projects. Since inception in January 2014 we have worked on high profile Big
Data use cases and have been developing a network monitoring and
perfromance probe- BBOX. Our team currently consits of 4 members.
Introducing; The BBOX
We have recently started our marketing and POC phase of our new product
BBOX. The BBOX is a network monitoring and performance testing appliance.
Our focus from the start has been b2b and b2c. We currently have the
product installed with 8 companies locally and are about to embark on trials in
Namibia with a large insurance company. We have also recieved our first
confirmation of an order from a well known paint manufacturing company.
Our customers and future
Our use cases are varied with POC's currently being done in the following
sectors; motor vehicle retail, Internet service provider (ISP), manufacturing and
Mining, insurance and railway sector.
The primary use case in all of these is the measurement of response times from
a branch site to a data center. All data is centrally reported on through our
Hotrod Big Data Framework.
Our systems are built on cloud based Docker architecture. We have built our
own probes using commercial Small Form Factor Network and Compute
Devices. Our devices are self install devices that are secure in there
communication and push data to our cloud.
Our competitors are traditional network analysis companies whose products
originate out of the USA or Europe.
Why we believe BBOX is the innovative product/solution.
BBOX was developed as a solution to simplify current Network analysis and
visbility standards. Our focus lies in assiting our customers achieve Opertaional
Intelligence. Through collective industry and personal experiences we noticed
the need for a more cohesive system of monitoring data. There are very few
software products in the South African market that cover such a large range
of needs and completely customisable to each client.
