Dear Sir / Madam,
First of all let me pass cordial greetings for all members of your
federation; exceptional people that put strength first.
Miedzynarodowa Federacja Przeciągania Liny – Tug of War
International Federation Poland decided to create new athletic
competition of individual tug of war. It is the response to the fans’
demands that wanted to compare athletes practising different sports.
The main goal of our federation is not to violate authority of already
existing sport federations but to create a competition where athletes
challenge themselves and each other for the title of the strongest man
in the world.
This year’s World Championship will take place in town of Szczyrk,
Poland, in the beautiful Sports Hall within the Main Sports Centre -
Olympic Training Centre on December 13 – 16. Only athletes with
body mass between 110kg and 180kg (Heavyweight) and representing
the sports federation such as shot put, hammer throw, discus
throwing, javelin throw, strong man, powerlifting, benchpress and
body-building. Up to day there has never been a possibilty for so many
athletes of various strength sports to fight in the direct competition for
the trophies while bringing home glory.
3. Hereby we kindly invite 1 athlete and 1 sports activist from your
federation to join us at the 1st Individual Tug of War World
Championship We will provide referee training for the sports activist
before the Championship so he or she can participate as a Judge
observer.
All expenses during the World Championship such as accomodation in
the hotel, meals, social events, entrance fee are covered by the
organiser. The only expenses for the participants are both ways travel
expenses and the insurance.
We guarantee wonderful level of sport experience. Our federation
wants to integrate athletes through common social events, doing
sight –seeing, rock gigs and artistic performances and many other.

Date and venue of the competition
1. The competition will take place in the Sports Hall of the Main Sports Centre –
Olympic Training Centre in Poland, Szczyrk, 8 Plazowa Str. from December 13th
to 16th 2012.

The Judges Panel
1. Only qualified international class Judges included in the MFPL – TWIF Panel
of Judges will serve as referees.
2. The Appeal Commission will consist of delegates with Judges qualifications.
3. Sports speaker must hold international class Judge qualifications.
The objectives of the competition
1. The primary objective of the competition is to select World Champion in the Men’s
Individual Tug of War World Championships.
2. The secondary objective of the competition is to promote sport and individual tug
of war.
The conditions of participation
1. The primary condition of participation is sending the filled entry form before
deadline (November 13th, 2012) for either the participant or sports activist
representing the invited federation.
2. Every participant must be over the age of 16 and under the age of 65.
6. 3. The participant’s body mass must be within the range of 110 kg and 180 kg
(superheavy weight class)
4. Every participant must possess current medical certificate stating the lack
of obstacles for participating in the competition.
5. Every participant is exempt from the entry fee.
6. In accordance with the MFPL – TWIF regulations every participant is obliged
to deliver during the weighting the following equipment:
• sports shoes – originally produced by any sport shoe manufacturer, with original
fabric sole, the maximum height to the ankle;
• sports shirt – short sleeve with the maximum length to the half of the forearm;
• additional gear – overgrip, knee and elbow pads.
7. Every participant must stay sober during the competition and uphold the ban for
using alcohol and performance – enhancing drugs.
The rules of competition
1. The competition’s participants will be paired by drawing. The loser of each match
is immediately eliminated from the competition and will not participate further in
the championships. There will be a third place playoff (the winner of each match
moves on and the loser goes home)
2. A single match lasts for 30 seconds. A match is won by moving the rope the
required distance as indicated by the markings. If a match is not won after
15 seconds long break there is an extra time. In case that by the end of extra time
the match is not won, Judge overseeing the match declares the winner.
3. A puller wins a match by moving the rope by 2 metres (the middle marker on the
rope is pulled by the side marking on the floor).
4. Judge can punish a puller with a yellow penalty card for the first offense and a red
penalty card and disqualification for the second offense.
5. It is allowed for competitors to wear the competition dress in the national colours
or with the name or coat of arms of their country or the federation’s logo. It is
forbidden to wear any advertisements on the competition dress during the
competition. Only the organiser can make an exception for the puller.
Weighting
1. Weighting will take place on December 14th, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. in the designated
room within the Main Sports Centre – Olympic Training Centre.
7. Prizes
1. Every participant in World Championships will receive a commemorative medal
and a certificate.
2. Winners of first, second and third places will receive:
• Medals – respectively gold, silver, bronze
• Cups;
• Financial prize:
First place 3,000 USD
Second place 2,000 USD
Third place 1,000 USD
The accommodation (board and lodging)
1. All participants and sports activist of the invited federations will have
accommodation packages (board and lodging) arranged at the ***hotel “Harnas”
within the Main Sports Centre – Olympic Training Centre in Szczyrk from 13th
(lunch time) till 16th (after breakfast) of December 2012.
2. Additional social events such as sight – seeing trips, farewell party etc. are
covered by the organiser.
The concluding remarks
1. Every participant must hold valid insurance against accidents.
2. The entry form filled by either participant or federation must be sent to MFPL –
TWIF before November 13th, 2012. Entry form can be sent:

3. The entry form can be found on the MFPL – TWIF official website www.twif.pl
4. The competition is intended for male participants in superheavy weight class only.
No females, disabled athletes or athletes lighter than superheavy weight class are
allowed.
5. By the decision of the organiser, all participants are obliged to wear
advertisements of the main sponsor on the competition dress.
