Painter Pierre Paul Marchini denounces the exploitation of artists by the “art world” and launches his own
sales channel : https://www.facebook.com/ma4chini/
French artist Pierre-Paul Marchini is best known
for his large oil paintings expressing vivid colors
and light. His masterful work becomes a visual
beacon of light and hope, emanating brilliance
and illumination that invokes obscure reflections
and imaginary landscapes. He has a skillful way of
capturing the luster and brilliance of light within
his work.
After twenty years of exhibiting and trade fairs,
Pierre Paul Marchini denounces the abuses of this elitist milieu, which exploits artists and prevents the
general public from acquiring works at prohibitive prices.
The artist lives and works in Ajaccio, the capital city on the French island of Corsica, located in the
Mediterranean Sea. The unique light that shines on the island and the harmonious blend of French and Italian
culture provides an inspirational atmosphere, offering him an extraordinary palette of colors.
Marchini, a painter of abstraction and informality, his geometric, translates the impulses of his soul. By
diverting the theory of colors and exploring each material, he creates a rupture with traditional tools. He goes
beyond simple representation and dives into pure psychology. Color is carried to his paroxysm with great
freedom.
Marchini's application with a palette knife allows him to build and structure larger surface areas. The artist's
emotion and focus on inner energy, and sometimes contemplation, create expressive, lyrical, and thoughtful
qualities in his paintings. His Art is recognized immediately by his unique style, using oil paints and a palette
knife to create a pictorial universe bursting with energy, color, and luminosity.
Marchini's work can be found in numerous galleries, museums, and private collections worldwide. He
exhibits his work regularly in Parisian galleries. His work was exhibited at the Fiac in 2012 and won the third
prize of painting at the grand international contemporary art competition in 2014. His works were listed in
the 2015 edition of the contemporary artists' dictionary.
We have interviewed Mr. Pierre-Paul Marchini; here are some of the glimpses of the interesting
conversation.
Why and when did you decide to become a Painter/Artist?
In fact, I did not decide to become an artist, and I must admit that pictorial Art was not in my world. I was
much more interested in music, especially pop. One day, about twenty years ago from now, I stumbled upon
an article devoted to William Turner. It was the immediate click it paved my way toward contemporary Art.
What type of Art do you create? What does it mean to you, and what
motivates you to make it?
My paintings are mainly abstract. I try to create a window of imagination that everyone can interpret
according to their own vision of a different world. The goal is to create an escape route for my audience
through Art towards a better world.
Can you tell us about the process of your work?
I cannot really speak of a specific process or preparation. Indeed I paint on instinct, but apart from this, the
colors I choose for my painting are according to the climate. The shapes come by themselves. For a moment,
I feel that my hands are no longer mine, and an inner force guides them from the depths of my soul.
What does your Artwork Represent or aim to say?
Most of my work is aimed at the viewer's soul. Beyond the visual aspect, it expresses an episode of life, an
inner image, specific to everyone that we feel without being able to explain it in words. The strength of
informal painting is, it awakens the deepest senses within humans.
What is your daily routine when working?
A routine does not exist for an artist. Each time it is a new adventure, a new story to tell. Creating Art for the
sake of it doesn't bring anything. An artist naturally knows when to put his feelings and emotion on the
canvas. The fusion between the creator and his work must be in total osmosis, an act of love.
When people view your Artwork, what do you want them to experience and
think about?
My work doesn't necessarily need to be understood. It is the emotion that it gives to the people who look at
it. Each spectator will interpret it as fitting to his feeling and imagination. It is the center of the exchange
between the creator and the audience, like a conversation without words.
Do you have a basic philosophy that guides you in your creative expression?
There is no particular philosophy to my work. My lone goal is to convey emotion through my paintings. An art
that looks like me without reflection, so the public, in return, will feel the human investment of it. The artist
knows the work will belong to him; it is the sharing between the painter and the spectator that is the most
important.
What was the pivotal moment of your artistic career?
Indeed it was in 2015 when against all expectations, I was spotted by Italian art historians. The opportunity
allowed me to travel around the world, meet with great contemporary artists of all nationalities, and
participate in international exhibitions. At that time, it was the most crucial turning point of my career.
What career accomplishment are you most proud of and why?
Beyond the awards that I have received throughout my career, my greatest satisfaction is having led an
honorable career. I started with nothing. My greatest pride is to have reached a vast global audience without
any formal education in Art. An artist could not ask for more.
What is your current most important career goal? What steps are you taking
to attain it?
My goal always remains the same: giving people a little happiness through my paintings in this messy world,
where the dream part tends to disappear gradually. My mission is to create a bridge between imagination
and reality.
What do you think is the main reason behind the exorbitant prices of modern
Art?
The art world's abusive practices and the exploitation of artists are the main reason behind the high price tag
of modern Art. Art has become a business, and artists are becoming cash cows for investors. Many players
see Art as an investment from gallery owners and designers of paid sites for artists to trade show organizers
without appreciating its depth. There is no room for the true love of Art.
You are a critic of the elitist milieu of Artworld and their exploitation of the
artists. What you think is the best way to stop this abuse?
It is extremely hard to fight this well-established system of abuse. For my part, I decided to bypass this
exploitation, where the money is king, by offering my work directly to the public. As a result, Art remains
accessible to as many people as possible.
Which artist of the past would you most like to meet?
Without any hesitation, Amedeo Modigliani, the man, was a true artistic soul. I have a deep admiration for
this true genius. He had the most profound respect for his contemporaries. Yes, I would meet him and discuss
the merits of Art and life in general.
What piece of your Artwork would you like to be remembered for?
I would like to be remembered as a father and as someone who has always listened to his heart both as an
artist and a human being. Notoriety is only an illusion.
What role does the artist have in society?
For me, the artist is a bulwark of freedom, a privileged witness of his time. In addition, the sharing of his own
dreams and intuitions through his works gives and transmits to everyone what he has best.
What work do you most enjoy doing? What is your favorite Artwork?
Oil paint is my favorite material. It is a substance that makes it possible to best express what one feels.
Especially since we can try certain tests before obtaining the desired result, an impossible exercise with
acrylic in particular, which dries too quickly.
What are your most important artistic influences? What inspires you to paint?
My inspiration is nature. It touches my soul. The Corsican colors and lights are my true inspiration.
What advice would you give to a young artist following in your steps?
The only advice I can give to young artists is to never listen to others but to create with their own style,
especially with the heart. Be original and be yourself.
