Pain now, Pain later. Mariah McKennon December 6 th , 2010
Pain is War, War is Pain. Ever since humans began documenting their lives, war has existed. It affects everyone. A soldier is ultimately given two options, fight or die.
Pain Comes through Different Mediums Physical pain Emotional pain Combined pains
The pain of War never goes away. “ My memories of Vietnam, as with most veterans of that war, remain vivid, as if they happened yesterday.” –David Antoon
War causes pain, but Pain is not the only thing. War has caused absolute chaos, madness, mass deaths, and tremendous physical damages. War can alter peoples lives forever.
Soldiers have some of the harshest experiences a human can take.
The War Soldier discovers reality of life and death. Discovers the connection between him and opponent as human beings. Soldier develops a desensitization to the realities. Soldier compensates with alcohol and/or drug addiction. Soldier considers suicide.
Coming Home One in five soldiers come home with post traumatic stress disorder. Five active duty service members attempt suicide every single day, and up to eighteen veterans kill themselves per day.
The Answer Exposure therapy- veteran gets with a group of similar experienced soldiers and all share their deepest feelings and horrors. Veterans need our support. Positive and healthy support will help ease the pain. The Army Times reports that the one consistent cure for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder is exposure therapy.
Mourn not the dead. But rather mourn the apathetic throng --- The cowed and meek Who see the world's great anguish and its wrong, And dare not speak. Ralph Chaplin
