The class rulesare basedon the "Reglamentogeneral de alumnos" (www.gda.itesm.mx/escolar), also in
the "Reglamento académico" (www.gda.itesm.mx/escolar) and the "Reglamento de la Prepa TEC ".
Calculators (scientific, not graphing) will be used as support tools to solve complicated
operationsor to give exact solutions. Therefore, they can only be used with the permission of
the teacher and following the instructions as prompted by the activity / test.
With respect to other electronic devices with Internet access, such as laptops, tablets and
mobile phones, they are not allowed to use during class, except in cases where the activity
needs to be solved through Blackboard or other mathematical programs (such as Geogebra,
Socrative, Kahoot, etc.). They can also be used for research purposes, if the teacher asks.
Otherwise,if astudentuseshisdevice whennotallowed,he/shewill be expelledfromthe class,
and will get a SEDIS.
Whenthe entrance bell rings, the doorwill be closed. Students must be in the classroom at the
time, otherwise you will not be allowed entry. Late arrivals are not allowed, and are seen as
absences.
The studentmustbringhis/heractivity /HW for the class. If the student does not bring it, he or
she will be expelled from the class, with absence and a report in SEDIS.
It is not allowed to enter food or drinks to the classroom (except bottled water).
The studentis responsible for obtaining the notes of any missed class, and to review the topic
before asking for tutoring.
All testsshall be conductedonthe day theyare assigned.Late applicationswill onlybe accepted
if previously authorized by the Director.
In the tests, the onlyelectronicdevice is the calculator (scientific), except in tests in which the
teacher requires not to use one. Any device (cellphone, tablet) is prohibited.
There will be tutoring during exam periods, but only of the topics that are not included in the
exam to be done.
No tutoring will be given on final exams’ period, under any circumstances. The last tutoring
session will be given no later than May 3, 2018.

Description:
Miniquiz (by topic):
- At the endof eachtopic,a miniquiz willbe applied. This quiz will assess the knowledge
acquired in the subject seen, and will last for 15 or 20 minutes max.
- To practice for miniquizes, students can review their HW/activities and examples from
class.
Class Activities / Homework assignments: The class activities will also be the Homework
assignmentspergeneral topic(if notfinishedinclass, the studentmust finish in his/her home).
These assignments consist of some exercises from the textbook or taken from other sources,
ranging from basic to advanced level (application problems or demonstrations). These
assignments will be graded and must be handed in while the teacher takes attendance on the
day assigned. Also, the HWmustcontainthe followingelements(the absence of one or more of
them will incur in a 10% grade deduction):
- Stapled
- The first page must be the format printed from Blackboard
- All margins must be clean cut.
Partial Project: The project will consist of an application and/or research of some of the topics
coveredorto be seeninthe partial. These problemscan be extracted from the textbook or any
other supporting material, and assigned to each team (4 members) randomly.
- All three projects consist of a document that serves as an advance, and a video (at the
end of the partial) which explains the solution to the problem(s).
- Each project will have a team coevaluation, where each student will evaluate the
performance of their peers.
- Each project will have its own rubric that the teacher will use to evaluate it.
National MathTest: On April 11th
, a nationwide mathexamistobe held.Thisexamwill be done
afterclass hours, andwill containquestionsfromall mathcoursestaken so far (Math I, II and III,
and Math IV until the topic of Introduction to Statistics).
Mid-Partial exam:Eachpartial will have aMid-Partial exam.Thisexaminationwill cover the first
half of the partial inwhichitis performed, includingpractical exercises. The maximum duration
of this test will be 50 min. and will be done by hand (the procedure does count).
Partial and Final Exams: The exams assess everything seen in the partial. The Final exam is
cumulative and it will assess everything seen in the academic year (that means that it will
evaluate topics seen in both Math III and IV courses). Both consist of a theory part, a practical
part (withexerciseslike those seeninclass) andanapplicationpart(with similar exercises from
the project). All exams are written; partial exams last 80 min. (the duration of a class), and the
final exam will last 2 hours.

Grading Policy for mid-partial, partial and final exams: A grading scale will be applied,
akin to the College Board rules:
The student obtains (over 100) Grade given using the scale
>85 - 100 100
>70 - 85 85
>60 - 70 70
<60 Same grade obtained
