Overview
This project is the development of an organizational analysis
and recommendations plan with a research component. Conduct
research on the availability of key internal and external data,
including but not limited to historical and current financial data,
competitor information, social responsibility, products,
customers, mission and goals, and employee demographics for
an organization of your choosing. To make this assignment
more meaningfu, it is recommended that the organization you
select be based on a department or division in which you
currently work or aspire to work, as this will make for a more
meaningful assignment experience that will incorporate your
experiences and interests. The organizational analysis and
recommendations plan is the final artifact for submission. All
components of the assessment should be written as a formal
research paper formulated in language and structure appropriate
for submission to company management.
This assessment will evaluate your mastery with respect to the
following outcomes:
Formulate components of organizational strategic goals and
approaches to fill performance gaps based upon analysis of
internal and external data
Analyze personnel allocation and scheduling to resolve human
capital conflicts and plan for future needs
Interpret variances in past financial data for establishing future
financial resource allocations
Evaluate progress towards established performance metrics in
order to make informed decisions and respond effectively to
organizational changes

The following critical elements must be addressed:
I. Cover page
II. Company background section (Worksheet A, below)
a) An overview of the company, including its goals and
mission
b) A brief history of the company, including its foundation
and purpose
c) The products, goods, or services provided by the chosen
company
d) A description of the customer base of the company
e) An overview of the markets served, including their
current market share
f) Identification of the company’s major competitors
g) A description of the organizational structure (including
overall responsibilities of the board of directors)
h) A breakdown of the company’s employee demographics
III. Strategic planning section (Worksheets B and C, below)
a) Variances in past and current financial health and how
those variances or trends will impact future available resources
for hiring and staffing
b) The effectiveness of personnel allocation, staffing, and
scheduling
c) Current management goals and the progress toward
meeting those goals
d) Organizational challenges related to external or internal
influences
IV. Project plan based on your analysis
a) Recommend a plan for future financial resource
allocations related to staffing and hiring. Provide a justification
of your recommendations and how future allocations will assist
in meeting the financial needs and management goals of the
company.
b) Recommend a plan for future human capital needs based
on current staffing and the goals of the company.
c) Provide a proposal of four specific strategic goals, with
at least one in each of the following areas: i. Personnel
allocation and/or scheduling ii. Performance gaps iii. Budget
allocation
d) Provide a summary proposal for the overall strategic
direction of the company. Your proposal should address how
your recommendations and strategic goals can assist the
company in responding effectively to future organizational
changes and challenges.
V. Bibliography
The organizational analysis and recommendations plan should
address the following question: What major organizational
strategies are needed for effective resources management and
decision making related to personnel management, budget
allocation, performance metrics, and goal setting?
Milestones
Milestone One: Division or department within an organization
of your choice/approval In task 4-2, you will need to complete
Worksheet A. This worksheet is submitted along with a formal
narrative (approximately two pages in length) describing the
chosen company, including a brief overview of each component
within the Company Background critical element.
This milestone will provide a summary and description of your
chosen organization, including:
a) An overview of the company, including its goals and
mission
b) A brief history of the company, including its foundation
and purpose
c) The products, goods, or services provided by the chosen
company
d) A description of the customer base of the company
e) An overview of the markets served, including the
company’s current market share
f) Identification of the company’s major competitors
g) A description of the organizational structure (including
overall responsibilities of the board of directors)
h) A breakdown of the company’s employee demographics
The research required for this assignment will also verify that
there is adequate data available for analysis and for the creation
of a strategic plan. A bibliography in APA format should be
included. This milestone will be reviewed by the instructor and
returned to you for modifications, if needed, and for inclusion
in the final project. This milestone is graded using the
Worksheet A Rubric document.
Milestones Two and Three: Strategic Planning
Worksheets B and C will be submitted in tasks 6-2 and 8-2,
respectively. These worksheets will walk you through the
SWAT analysis process. You will conduct an analysis of the
company’s current management practices and history, including:
a) Variances in past and current financial health and how
those variances or trends will impact future available resources
for hiring and staffing
b) The effectiveness of personnel allocation, staffing, and
scheduling
c) Current management goals and the progress toward
meeting those goals
d) Organizational challenges related to external or internal
influences
Worksheets B and C will be reviewed by the instructor and
returned to you for modifications, if needed, and for inclusion
in the final project. Milestone Two is graded using the
Worksheet B Rubric document. Milestone Three is graded using
the Worksheet C Rubric document.
Final Submission: Organizational Analysis and
Recommendations Plan
In task 10-2, you will submit your completed organizational
analysis and recommendations plan. The project plan should be
between 10 and 15 pages (this will be a result of combining
Worksheets A–C), not including references and cover page. The
number of scholarly sources should be no less than eight. It
should be a complete, polished artifact containing all of the
critical elements of the final product. It should reflect the
incorporation of feedback gained throughout the course. This
submission will be graded with the Final Project Rubric
(below).
Requirements of Submission: Written components of project
must follow these formatting guidelines when applicable:
double spacing, 12-point Times New Roman font, one-inch
margins, and APA format.
Worksheet A: Organizational Background, Decision Making,
SWOT and Gap Analysis
The first part of the organizational analysis and
recommendations project requires organizational identification.
This simply means to identify an organization that you would
like to shape your human capital management strategic planning
project around. You can select an organization of your choice.
If you decide to focus on your current workplace, make sure to
notify the instructor and change the company name for
protection of privacy.
The following items should be included in your submission:

Background of Organization
An overview of the company and its goals and mission
A brief history of the company, including its foundation and
purpose
The products, goods, or services provided by your chosen
company
A description of the customer base of the company
An overview of the markets served by this company, including
their current market share
Identification of the company’s major competitors
A description of the organizational structure (including overall
responsibilities of the board of directors)
A breakdown of the company’s employee demographics
Decision Making (Concepts from Module Two)
Discuss best practices for strategic decision-making as
identified in Module Two and whether they relate to the types
of decisions you foresee applying to your strategic plan. Also
identify specific decision-making tools that you will consider
and your reasoning for using those specific decision-making
tools (i.e., decision-making tools identified in Module Two).
SWOT Analysis (Concepts from Modules Three and Four):
Identify internal and external types of primary and secondary
data used in developing your SWOT analysis.

management (HRM)/human capital management (HCM) to the
organization you selected.

This is the second part of the project, which builds on the
information you completed in Worksheet A.
Review your SWOT analysis, goal statements, and gap analysis
from Worksheet A.
Create 12 goal statements, 3 from each area within your SWOT
analysis, that can be applied to the Learning and Growth (HRM
side of the balanced scorecard):
3 goals statements from internal strengths
3 goal statements from internal weaknesses
3 goal statements from external opportunities
3 goals statements from external threats
Consider the following as you develop the goal statements:
Keep in mind that the reason you are being asked about where
your goal statement derived from is to help you see the progress
of strategic planning from research, identification, ideas, and
goals to specific trackable goals within the balanced scorecard.
A customized table is available on the following page to help
you organize your goals according to the balanced scorecard
format. Complete the assignment within the table provided.

This is the third part of the project, which builds on the
information you completed in Worksheet B.
In Worksheet B, you created a total of 12 goal statements from
each area within your SWOT analysis that you defined in
Worksheet A. Those goal statements were then applied to the
Learning and Growth (HRM side of the balanced scorecard) in
Worksheet B.
For this assignment, discuss how you will be able to create a
vision for your proposed strategic initiatives based on Kotter’s
(2007) steps to establishing vision for strategic initiatives:
How will you create a sense of urgency?
What individuals or groups within your organization would you
want to get together to help support and share your vision with
others in the organization? Why?
How will you create a vision that incorporates a solution to the
urgency of change with your strategic initiatives?
How will you go about communicating that vision? Why?
What strategies will you use to empower people to participate in
carrying out the actions for your strategic vision?
What key “short-term wins” will you celebrate? How will you
celebrate? How will you use that for momentum to achieve more
results?

  • 1. Overview This project is the development of an organizational analysis and recommendations plan with a research component. Conduct research on the availability of key internal and external data, including but not limited to historical and current financial data, competitor information, social responsibility, products, customers, mission and goals, and employee demographics for an organization of your choosing. To make this assignment more meaningfu, it is recommended that the organization you select be based on a department or division in which you currently work or aspire to work, as this will make for a more meaningful assignment experience that will incorporate your experiences and interests. The organizational analysis and recommendations plan is the final artifact for submission. All components of the assessment should be written as a formal research paper formulated in language and structure appropriate for submission to company management. This assessment will evaluate your mastery with respect to the following outcomes: Formulate components of organizational strategic goals and approaches to fill performance gaps based upon analysis of internal and external data Analyze personnel allocation and scheduling to resolve human capital conflicts and plan for future needs Interpret variances in past financial data for establishing future financial resource allocations Evaluate progress towards established performance metrics in order to make informed decisions and respond effectively to organizational changes Prompt

Company background section (Worksheet A, below) a) An overview of the company, including its goals and mission b) A brief history of the company, including its foundation and purpose c) The products, goods, or services provided by the chosen company d) A description of the customer base of the company e) An overview of the markets served, including their current market share f) Identification of the company’s major competitors g) A description of the organizational structure (including overall responsibilities of the board of directors) h) A breakdown of the company’s employee demographics III. Strategic planning section (Worksheets B and C, below) a) Variances in past and current financial health and how those variances or trends will impact future available resources for hiring and staffing b) The effectiveness of personnel allocation, staffing, and scheduling c) Current management goals and the progress toward meeting those goals d) Organizational challenges related to external or internal influences IV. Project plan based on your analysis a) Recommend a plan for future financial resource allocations related to staffing and hiring. Provide a justification of your recommendations and how future allocations will assist in meeting the financial needs and management goals of the company.
  • 3. b) Recommend a plan for future human capital needs based on current staffing and the goals of the company. c) Provide a proposal of four specific strategic goals, with at least one in each of the following areas: i. Personnel allocation and/or scheduling ii. Performance gaps iii. Budget allocation d) Provide a summary proposal for the overall strategic direction of the company. Your proposal should address how your recommendations and strategic goals can assist the company in responding effectively to future organizational changes and challenges. V. Bibliography The organizational analysis and recommendations plan should address the following question: What major organizational strategies are needed for effective resources management and decision making related to personnel management, budget allocation, performance metrics, and goal setting? Milestones Milestone One: Division or department within an organization of your choice/approval In task 4-2, you will need to complete Worksheet A. This worksheet is submitted along with a formal narrative (approximately two pages in length) describing the chosen company, including a brief overview of each component within the Company Background critical element. This milestone will provide a summary and description of your chosen organization, including: a) An overview of the company, including its goals and mission b) A brief history of the company, including its foundation and purpose
  • 4. c) The products, goods, or services provided by the chosen company d) A description of the customer base of the company e) An overview of the markets served, including the company’s current market share f) Identification of the company’s major competitors g) A description of the organizational structure (including overall responsibilities of the board of directors) h) A breakdown of the company’s employee demographics The research required for this assignment will also verify that there is adequate data available for analysis and for the creation of a strategic plan. A bibliography in APA format should be included. This milestone will be reviewed by the instructor and returned to you for modifications, if needed, and for inclusion in the final project. This milestone is graded using the Worksheet A Rubric document. Milestones Two and Three: Strategic Planning Worksheets B and C will be submitted in tasks 6-2 and 8-2, respectively. These worksheets will walk you through the SWAT analysis process. You will conduct an analysis of the company’s current management practices and history, including: a) Variances in past and current financial health and how those variances or trends will impact future available resources for hiring and staffing b) The effectiveness of personnel allocation, staffing, and scheduling c) Current management goals and the progress toward meeting those goals d) Organizational challenges related to external or internal influences Worksheets B and C will be reviewed by the instructor and returned to you for modifications, if needed, and for inclusion in the final project. Final Submission: Organizational Analysis and Recommendations Plan In task 10-2, you will submit your completed organizational analysis and recommendations plan. The project plan should be between 10 and 15 pages (this will be a result of combining Worksheets A–C), not including references and cover page. The number of scholarly sources should be no less than eight. It should be a complete, polished artifact containing all of the critical elements of the final product. It should reflect the incorporation of feedback gained throughout the course. This submission will be graded with the Final Project Rubric (below). Requirements of Submission: Written components of project must follow these formatting guidelines when applicable: double spacing, 12-point Times New Roman font, one-inch margins, and APA format. Worksheet A: Organizational Background, Decision Making, SWOT and Gap Analysis The first part of the organizational analysis and recommendations project requires organizational identification. This simply means to identify an organization that you would like to shape your human capital management strategic planning project around. You can select an organization of your choice. If you decide to focus on your current workplace, make sure to notify the instructor and change the company name for protection of privacy. Also identify specific decision-making tools that you will consider and your reasoning for using those specific decision-making tools (i.e., decision-making tools identified in Module Two). Review your SWOT analysis, goal statements, and gap analysis from Worksheet A. Create 12 goal statements, 3 from each area within your SWOT analysis, that can be applied to the Learning and Growth (HRM side of the balanced scorecard): 3 goals statements from internal strengths 3 goal statements from internal weaknesses 3 goal statements from external opportunities 3 goals statements from external threats Consider the following as you develop the goal statements: Keep in mind that the reason you are being asked about where your goal statement derived from is to help you see the progress of strategic planning from research, identification, ideas, and goals to specific trackable goals within the balanced scorecard.
