Small Business Saturday Initiative
A P Bassett Solicitors of Lostwithiel are delighted to
be one of the 100 small businesses in the UK to be
celebrated by Small Business Saturday UK on the
6th December this year.
“More of the local, less of the global! That’s what we want to
see”, says Principal of the firm Paul Bassett. “Our office is
based in the gorgeous and historic town of Lostwithiel in East
Cornwall and one of the things I love about it, is that the
shops and businesses are small and independent. It really
does take all sorts of small businesses to make a
successful high street and Lostwithiel is a fine example.”

4. On the big day A P Bassett Solicitors will
be holding two free workshops:
1) Social Media for local small businesses to help get
them started. A good number of the town’s
businesses are already using social media including
the Business Group which uses the social media
identity LoveLostwithiel. Not only is it a good way to
promote your business, but it is also a friendly way of
building relationships with regular holiday makers and
visitors to the town. Customers can stay in touch with
the business owners they have made contact with.
That works especially well for the antique shops and
holiday lets.
2) Contracts and Agreements – What Every Small
Business Needs to Know about what agreements,
terms and conditions they should have in place to
make their business relationships work well.

6. The Tweet Bus will also be in town on the day taking
photos of the participating businesses and posting them on
Twitter, so watch out for those tweets! Everyone can join in the
campaign by sharing the message #shoplocal.
Small Business Saturday is a grass-roots, non-political, non-commercial
campaign that supports, inspires and
promotes small business and encourages people to
support small businesses in their communities, both on the
Saturday itself and beyond. It is a time to focus on our
nation's small businesses, which provide almost two
thirds of private sector employment and almost half of
private sector turnover.
This year Small Business Saturday in the UK will take
place on the 6th December, one of our busiest
shopping days of the year.
