Students will study two Shakespeare plays, 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' and 'Othello,' and write a controlled assessment essay on the challenges faced by female characters, which counts for 25% of their English Literature GCSE. 1. Shakespeare (Literature
GCSE)
You are going to study two Shakespeare plays: ‘A
Midsummer Night’s Dream’ and ‘Othello’
You are going to write a Controlled Assessment

some of Shakespeare’s women characters face in
the two plays.
This is worth 25% of your English Literature GCSE
and you have up to 4 hours to write it.

2. Group Task
On your table, allocate one person to each of the following
roles:
Resourcer – makes sure you have all you need for the task,
such as pens and paper
Facilitator – makes sure everyone knows what to do and keeps
on task
Checker – makes sure the task is completed fully
Reporter – at the end, tells the rest of the class what the group
has done
