Red5 is an open source flash media server based on Java that allows streaming of audio, video and data using the RTMP protocol. It can be used to deploy live video streaming, video on demand, remote display and collaborative applications. Red5 is released under the LGPL license and can run on Linux, Windows and Mac OSX operating systems. It provides an alternative to Adobe's commercial Flash Media Server through an open source and flexible platform.
