2. WHY DID I USE WEBS.COM?
Weebly.com, my first choice, had technical
glitches, where both me and my client felt
this was not appropiate
They had good templates
Unlike wix.com, there was no obvious bottom
bar promoting themselves
It was easy to manage
3. WHY DID I USE THE THEME I USED?
I used the theme, ‘Sunny’, because the
colours were bright and made the website
seem more cheerful and entertaining
The colours also went well together
I felt that the ribbon stating ‘Island School
Books’ added to the website’s captivation
4. WHY DID I MAKE THE FRONT BANNER AS I DID?
My front banner is a blend of books, island
school, and island school students
I chose to use a picture of books, to show
people that this website was about books
I chose to use a picture of Island School to
show viewers that this is a website for Island
School students and was made by an Island
School student
I chose to use a picture of Island School
students to show the Island School spirit and
that we are all united as a team.
5. WHY DID I CHOOSE 4 GENRES?
I chose the
genres, Romance, Adventure, Horror and
Fantasy
I limited other genres such as Sci-fi because
if there are too many genres, it would
become hard to navigate and one of my aims
was for it to be easy to navigate.
I chose those specific genres because those
are the ones that cover a wider range such
as sci-fi; for example adventure covers sci-fi.
6. WHY DID I INPUT A FORM ON THE FRONTPAGE?
There is a form on the front page, where
people can submit their name, email address
and message
I did this because viewers can send a quick
email, message or suggestion without
accessing their email addresses so it’s less
troublesome
7. WHY DID I INCLUDE EXAMPLES OF GOOD BOOK
REVIEWS
I included four good websites to look up to for
book reviews: The Guardian, The New York
Times, All Readers and Book Reporter
These websites are well known, and my editor
and I have looked at them and they are very
professional and well-written.
I made it so that it would open in a new window
because it would be more convenient, and
easier, since they wouldn’t need to click back to
go back to the website
8. WHY DID I DESIGN MY POSTER AS I DID?
‘ISLEBOOKS’ is really big and bold so that it would
be easy to remember
The background is colourful with vertical lines so it
would be inviting and eye-catching and people can
stop to look at this poster
I added stick-children on top of the pile of books to
show that this was for students, from different years
(7-13)
I added a pile of books so that the message would be
clear, that it was about books
The three
words, ‘SHARE, READ, RECOMMEND’, are quick
and to the point which is important for people that are
just glancing at it.
