7. 1.Crop production plan
 Required an organic crop
production plan:
A. Documents to be maintained.
B. Inputs used in production.
C. Source of organic planting
material.

8. 2.Conversion Requirements
 establishment of an organic
management system and building of soil
fertility requires an interim period,
known as the conversion period
 Balance of ecosystem and soil
fertility .
 Step by step conversion of the farm
with an updated plan .
 Requirements applicable from the
commencement of the conversion
period till its conclusion.
 Parallel production is not allowed.

9.  conversion period starts from the date of first
inspection.
 A full conversion period shall not be required all
requirements of standards met for several years
and where the same can be verified.
 In such cases inspection shall be carried out in
reasonable time intervals, before the first harvest.

10. 3.Duration of conversion period
 Annuals and biennials crops - 2 years
 Perennial plants other than grassland - 3 full
years .
 reduction of conversion period depends upon on
the past usage of the land and ecological
situation
 Organic products in conversion shall be sold as
"produce of organic agriculture in conversion" in
which standards have been met for at least twelve
months.

11. 4.Landscape
 To facilitate biodiversity CB set some standards which
include following:
 Extensive grassland such as moorlands, reed land or dry
land
 In general all areas which are not under rotation and are
not heavily manured.
 Extensive pastures, meadows, extensive grassland,
extensive orchards, hedges, hedgerows, groups of trees
and/or bushes and forest lines .
 Ecologically rich fallow land or arable land.
 Ecologically diversified (extensive) field margins.
 Waterways, pools, springs, ditches, wetlands and swamps
and other water rich areas should not be used.

12. 5.Choice of Crops and Varieties
 Species & Varieties, be according to Climate & be
resistant to Pest &disease
 When certified organic plant material are available
they shall be used
 If not, chemically untreated conventional material
should be used.
 Use of GMO seeds, pollen, transgene plants or
plant material not allowed

13. 6.Diversity in Crop Production
 Aim -maintain the structure
and fertility of the soil with
minimum nutrient loss.
 The organic farms shall be
required to maintain
sufficient diversity in a
manner that takes into
account pressure from
insects, weeds, diseases
and other pests,

14.  while maintaining or increasing soil, organic
matter, fertility, microbial activity and general soil
health.
Diversity achieved by combination of:
 A versatile crop rotation with legumes
 An appropriate coverage of the soil during the
year of production with diverse plant species

15. 7.Nutrient Management
 Biodegradable material helps to
maintain its fertility and the
biological activity
 Maintain Adequate pH
 biodegradable material on basis of
local conditions and nature of
crops.
 Mineral fertilizers used in a
supplementary role .

16.  Human waste not allowed.
 Mineral fertilizers which containing nitrogen not allowed
.
 Animal runs from becoming over maturing should be
prevented.
 Restrictions for the use of inputs such as mineral
potassium, magnesium fertilisers, trace elements,
manures and fertilisers.
 Chilean nitrate and all synthetic nitrogenous fertilisers,
including urea, are prohibited.

17. 8.Pest, Disease and Weed Management
 organic farming system carried out
to minimize pest, disease & weed by
ensuring
 Balanced fertilizing programme,
 use resistant varieties, fertile soil of high
biological activity.
 Products from local plants, animals and
micro organisms prepared at the farm , are
allowed for pest, disease and weed
management
 Thermic weed control and physical
methods are allowed.
 Thermic sterilization of soil is restricted.-
based on CB permission

18.  Equipments from conventional farming shall be
properly cleaned before using in organically
managed area.
 keep documentary evidences of the need to use
the product .
 Branded products shall always be evaluated as
per the criteria given in Annex 3 before approval is
given for use .
 Use of Synthetic pesticides, herbicides, growth
regulators, GMO are prohibited

19. 9.0Contamination Control
 relevant measures should be taken to
minimizes contamination from outside and
within the farm.
 Accumulation of heavy metals and other pollutants
should be limited.
 Buffer zones should me maintained.
 In case of contamination, CB should analyze
source of pollution to determine level of
contamination. (soil & water )

20.  For protected structure covering, plastic mulches,
fleeces, insect netting & silage rapping, only product
based on polyethylene or polypropylene, or
polycarbonates are allowed.
 The use of polychoride based products is
prohibited.
 These are removed from the soil after use
 Burning not allowed in the field.

21. SOIL &WATER CONSERVATION
 Soil and water resources should be
handled in a sustainable manner
 Clearing of land through the means of
burning organic matter, e.g. slash-and-
burn, straw burning shall be restricted.
 The clearing of primary forest is
prohibited.
 measures should be taken to prevent
soil erosion.
 Require to check appropriate stocking
rates which does not lead to land
degradation and pollution of ground
and surface water.

22. 11.COLLECTION OF NON CULTIVATED
MATERIAL
 The collection of wild plants and parts thereof, growing
naturally, in natural areas and forest shall be accepted as
organic production methods provided –
 collection has not been carried out for a period of three years
and that these areas have not received treatment with
products other than those authorized for use in organic
production
 Organic collection management should ensure that in case
of minor forest produce collection, the State Government
Act shall be applicable .
 In case of cultivation is carried out in forest area, the
operators shall follow similar procedures of farm cultivation.
 Should maintain biodiversity.

23.  Wild harvested products shall only be certified
organic:
 if derived from a stable and sustainable growing
environment.
 Products can only be certified organic if derived
from a designated area for collection .
 collection area shall be at an appropriate distance
from conventional farming, pollution and
contamination.
 The producer managing the harvesting or
gathering of the products shall be clearly identified
and be familiar with the collecting area in
question.
