Itabi was discovered in the 1880s by two hunters in Sergipe, Brazil. It grew into a farming settlement and became a city in 1953. It has a population of around 4,900 people and holds an annual donkey race festival in September, where donkeys are costumed and paraded. While the author likes it for family and calmness compared to the nearby city of Aracaju, they note it can be boring and full of gossiping closed-minded people attached to wrong things.
