This document outlines lessons learned and notable accomplishments from Operation Anaconda in Afghanistan. The key lessons learned were the need for over-the-horizon communications, intra-theater fixed-wing resupply for air assault forces, all-weather fire support systems, lightweight counter-mortar radar, command and control aircraft, and lightweight mobility on the ground. Notable accomplishments included it being the first major conventional battle of the war in Afghanistan, the largest and longest light-infantry engagement since Vietnam, 14 combat air assaults without loss, and it involved a coalition of 7 countries in the first major joint operation.
