1. Omar­Pierre Soubra, a passionate innovator, previously was the Evangelist for SketchUp Make
for Trimble. Omar has been with the company for the last ​18 years​, with different roles and
responsibilities, from sales to product development, and marketing & communications, as well
as different director level roles. In 2007, he led the Marketing & Communications department for
the Geospatial (then “Survey”) division, with a team of over 10 people located around the World.
In 2011, he created and developed the first Techno­Marketing group, a new and innovative
department combining technologies and customer needs. He also developed several products
for the construction, geospatial and architecture industries. He holds ​16 international patents​, in
products combining optics, long range 3d scanning and video camera solutions. In 2012, he
was part of the Merger and Acquisition team which acquired the SketchUp group from Google.
Before working at Trimble, he worked for a subsidiary of the French power utility, Electricite de
France and for a joint­venture between Daimler and Thales.
In addition to his professional activities, Omar was an angel investor in ​Le FabShop​, on the
leaders of digital fabrication services (3d printing, CNC, etc), which created the ​most
downloaded​ 3d printed object todate. He also holds several advisor and board member
positions for US­based startups. In November 2011, he was elected President of the French
American Chamber of Commerce, Rocky Mountain Chapter, a non profit organization focusing
on nurturing business relationships between France and the US.
Omar is also recognized as of the drivers of the Maker Movement, and he collaborates on a
regular base with ​Make:​ magazine (with several articles published), actively participates at
multiple Maker Faires around the World and initiator and organizer of the first annual Maker
Faire Cape Town, South Africa, in August 2015. He also represented Trimble at the ​White
House​ Champions of Change for Making in June 2016.
Omar graduated from the ESPEO engineering school in France, with an Engineering degree in
LASER and photonics, from the University of Dundee, Scotland with a Bachelor Engineering
degree in Electronics, and from the Ecole Superieure de Ventes of Versailles, France, with a
Master of Art in Marketing. He is a TEDx speaker, where he premiered his concept of
Innopassion​, solving large issues with innovation and passion.
Omar is based in Westminster, Colorado, USA, since 2005, with his wife Melanie, and their four
children : Quentin, Lucas, Gaetan and Nathan. His life is open and shared on ​facebook​.
