Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

2. In this presentation…
I’ll be explaining different examples of how physics
work in curling, an Olympic sport.
Pictures will also be shown to help describe the text.
3. Example 1: Friction
Friction is an important
aspect in curling. The
players count on the rock
gliding along the ice
because ice has little
frictional resistance.
To reduce friction even
more, players rub their
brush in front of the rock to
slightly melt the ice and
create a path with even
less resistance.
4. Example 1: Friction cont’d
In order to limit as much surface contact between the curling
rock and the ice also, water is sprayed on the ice to form tiny
bumps that help keep the rock moving while avoiding the
power that friction will eventually take.
5. Example 2:
Newton’s 2nd Law
•Another example would be how
Newton’s 2nd Law applies to curling.
•In curling, a player must first apply
a force to the rock to make it move.
This player pushes themselves using
a “hack” and the force transmits to
the rock.
•If an unbalanced force acts on an
object, the object accelerates in
the direction of the force. This is
what causes the stone to move on
the ice.
