Okapis are found only in the tropical forests of northeastern Zaire in Africa. They are solitary animals that stand 1.5 meters tall with brown and white stripes. Okapis feed primarily on leaves, buds, shoots, grasses, fruits, ferns and fungi. Males have horns and assert dominance during mating season before females give birth to one calf after a 440 day gestation period.
