Erin Murphy has extensive experience as a dancer and choreographer. She received her B.A. in Dance from Grand Valley State University in 2008. Since then, she has performed with several dance companies and founded her own interdisciplinary dance company called Dancehall Twigs in 2013. She also teaches dance and works as a technical administrator for Apple.

Dancehall Twigs - 2013-Present
• Founder, choreographer, and artistic director. Dancehall Twigs is an interdisciplinary company featuring live
rock music and contemporary dance. The company premiered in December 2013.
Deeply Rooted Dance Theater - 2011-2013
• Perform as an apprentice with company during peek season times (usually 1-2 months of the year).
Performed as soloist for performances throughout the remainder of the year.
McArthur Park the Musical - 2012
• Presented by The Boys and Girls Club of Naperville. Performed in small ensemble of dancers.
Chicago Dark Horse Creative Beauty Bash - 2011,2012
• Appeared during beauty show fundraiser with a small group for a contemporary dance performance.
Deeply Rooted Dance Theater, Second Company - 2009-2011
• Train with main company as well as perform in ensemble work. Also perform locally throughout the year as
a separate ensemble at local events and concerts. This was also a technique training program that focused on
mastering techniques in African, Horton, Graham, and ballet.
Grand Rapids Movement Project - 2009-Present
• Founding member and now a visiting artist for summer performances as both a company dancer and
choreographer. Company bases movement in contemporary ballet and jazz techniques.
Spinal Tap Unwigged and Unplugged, Fox Theater Detroit - 2009
• Classical modern improvisation as solo guest performer for live concert.
West Michigan Youth Ballet - 2008
• Guest performed for the Nutcracker as the Sugar Plum Fairy.
Grand Valley State University Dance Ensemble - 2005-2008
• Throughout college training, performed as a soloist in works by artists including Thang Dao, Patrick Corbin,
Peter Sparling, and George Balanchine.
