CT scan FINDINGS :
LT parapharyngeal Tumor which could represent
paraganglioma or schwannoma
schwannoma :is a benign nerve sheath tumor composed of Schwann cells, which normally produce
the myelin sheath covering peripheral nerves.
5. Why we choose octreotide scan ?
Diagnosis of functional tumors with somatostatin receptor.
Such as GEP_NET tumors and other NET tumors.
Patient Preparation
Discontinue octreotide medication 3 days before
exam.
No fasting – Eat and drink as usual.
Well hydrated pre and post exam.
6. Radiopharmaceutical
29mci of Tc99m – octreotide (IV)
Octreotide had special preparation :
1. There is 1Kit , contain 2 vial ( Reagent + Octreo ).
2. We Add the octreo to the Tc99m and then add the reagent.
3. Boil the vial at 80º for 20mins .
4. Cooling for 30mins ( at room temperature ).
5. Inject the pt. directly.

Acquisition :
Collimator – parallel
Windows energy – 140kev at 20%
Scan mode – WB SPECT
Projections – ANT , POST
Pt. position – Supine
8. There is no abnormal focal octreotide accumulation
High activity in liver , spleen, kidneys, bladder, and variable activity in
non-vixed area of bowl .
