The Alfred E. Smith Career and Technical Education High School ACE Action Team from the Bronx, New York won the NY/NJ ACE Race with several successful sustainability projects. They collected over 500 pledges for their DOT project to raise climate change awareness. They also installed a green roof to reduce costs and pollution. Students planted 200 garlic bulbs and started a composting program. Additionally, 10 students built a bamboo bicycle to learn about renewable materials and carbon-free transportation. The team plans to use funding for more student training and sustainability projects.
