This document outlines the agenda and presentations for NCVO's National Volunteering Forum on March 9th. The forum will discuss the future of volunteering, what NCVO should do to support volunteering, and recent policy updates. There will be presentations on trends that may impact the future of volunteering and shaping NCVO's strategy to best support volunteers and voluntary organizations. Participants will discuss challenges around volunteer involvement and successes from NCVO's support. The goal is to help NCVO determine how to support volunteering locally and nationally.

41. BREXIT AND VOLUNTEERING
• EU/EEA nationals will continue to be able to freely move to the UK
to live, work and/or volunteer, and vice versa for UK nationals in
EU/EEA countries until 31 December 2020 when the transition
period ends.
• After the transition period, EU/EEA nationals will be able to
volunteer in the UK if:
 They have settled or pre-settled status (deadline to apply is 30 June
2021) or a visa which doesn’t prevent them from volunteering.
 They are enrolled in an EU funded volunteering programme, such as
Erasmus + or the European Solidarity Corps, with a placement in an EU
country.
• After the transition period, UK nationals will be able to volunteer in
EU countries if:
 They are enrolled in an EU funded volunteering programme, such as
Erasmus + or the European Solidarity Corps, with a placement in an EU
country.
 Outside of these schemes, without a collective agreement in place, a UK
national’s ability to volunteer in an EU/EEA country will largely come
down to the view of the authorities of that specific country.

42. GOVERNMENT CONSULTATION: PREVENTIONS
AGAINST SEXUAL HARASSMENT IN THE WORKPLACE
• During the summer the Government Equalities Office launched a
consultation asking whether the current laws on protecting people from
sexual harassment in the workplace are effective and set out some options
for change.
• One of the key proposals by the Government is to give volunteers the same
Equality Act protections against sexual harassment that employees have,
with the same recourse to employment tribunals.
• NCVO ran its own consultation process with its members to get their views
on these proposals. NCVO submitted its own response to the Government’s
consultation – you can read this in full on the NCVO website.
• The government was due to release the outcome to this consultation in
January. It has now been delayed. We are unsure of when this will be
published, but hope it will be in the coming weeks.
