TYPES OF GROOMING
There are 2 types of Grooming:
 Physical Grooming
 Meta-Physical Grooming
DEFINITION
PHYSICAL GROOMING
                 It consists of your appearance
which is categorized by the quality of your
skin, hair, hygiene, power of dressing, make-up
etiquettes etc. So it is an external beauty.
META-PHYSICAL GROOMING
                It consists of projecting certain
attributes of one’s personality. One must
appear elegant, confident, easy going without
 casuals.
TECHNIQUES OF GROOMING
 Overall Cleanliness
 Skin Care
 Hair Care
 Nail Care
 Oral Care
 Dressing
 Accessories
 Healthy Food
 Fitness
OVERALL CLEANLINESS
 Overall cleanliness is really
  important, just as critical as
 anything anywhere in this
 section.
 Be clean when you go out,
even for job & be clean even
   when you are not working.
DAILY SKIN CARE
A daily skin care regimen should
 include:

• Cleanse
• Exfoliate
• Tone
• Moisturize
• Protect
CLEANSE
 A good cleaning twice a day
to remove all the gunk like
  make-up, pollutants and just
plain dirt that ends up on your
  face.
 A deep cleansing facial foam
  is highly recommended to make
sure that every speck of dirt will
be removed, even from the deepest
 pores.
EXFOLIATE
 Dead surface skin cells give
  your skin a dull look.
 Exfoliation will keep these
  dead cells to a minimum.
  It’s best to exfoliate 2 to 3
  times a week.
TONE
 A good toner is essential to
refine pores and tone the skin.
 Toner should be used each
 day after cleansing.
 You should also use a toner
 after removing a mask.
 As an added benefit, your
toner will help remove any stray
makeup or dirt which may have been
 missed by the cleanser.
MOISTURIZE
Moisturizers help keep your
skin cells hydrated, making
your skin appear softer and
more youthful so be sure to
moisturize after every
cleansing, both in the morning
and before bed at night.
PROTECT
 Your skin needs daily protection from the
  sun and environmental pollution.
 A good foundation with an SPF factor of at
least 15 will help provide a barrier between
your face and the world and help protect it
  from damage.
DAILY HAIR CARE
 Brush your hair.
 Wash your hair(Depends on hair type &
  texture).
   Includes shampoo & conditioning tips.
 Apply hair styling products.
 Protect your hair.
 Style your hair.
 Brush your hair again at
    night.
 Secure your hair at night.
NAIL CARE
Feed Your Nails With Good Nutrition.
Deficiencies in the B-complex vitamins can
cause ridged nail beds, and a lack of
calcium can result in brittle, dry nails that
chip and flake easily.
MANICURE
 A professional manicure
  is a real treat.
 A manicure treatment is
  not only a treatment for
  the natural nails but also
  for the hands.
 A manicure consists of
filing, shaping of the free edge,
  treatments, massage of the hand
  and the application of polish.
PEDICURE
 A pedicure is a way to improve
the appearance of the feet and
  the nails.
 Pedicure refers to superficial
  cosmetic treatment of the feet
  and toenails.
 A pedicure can help prevent
  nail diseases and nail disorders.
ORAL CARE
 Maintaining good oral hygiene is one of the
most important things you can do for your
    teeth and gums.
 Brushing thoroughly twice a
    day and flossing daily.
 Eating a balanced diet and
    limiting snacks between meals.
 Using dental products that
    contain fluoride, including
    toothpaste.
 Regular visits to the dentist.
DRESSING
 Choose comfortable clothing
that suit your taste for fashion.
 What you need is
  self-confidence & common
  sense in choosing your fashion
  statement.
ACCESSORIES
 Accessories should be kept
  minimal specially for the
  employees working in
  aviation & hospitality sectors.
 Over do of accessories can
  mess up the whole professional
  look.
HEALTHY FOOD
 The term health food is
  generally used to describe
 foods that are considered to
 be beneficial to health, beyond
 a normal healthy diet required
for human nutrition.
 It may also refer to functional
foods for which a specific claim of
health benefits is made, such as
that consumption of the food may
prevent disease.
FITNESS
 Physical fitness comprises two related
  concepts:
         - General Fitness
         - Specific Fitness
 Physical fitness is generally
  achieved through correct
  nutrition, exercise, and enough
  rest.
TECHNIQUES TO IMPROVE &
MAINTAIN CONDITION OF SKIN
 Knowing your skin type is
 absolutely necessary in order
to make a right decision about
a proper skin care or treatment,
  which is suitable for your
particular skin needs.
 The initial quality, or type,
 of your skin is genetically
determined – meaning that
 you are born with it.
TYPES OF SKIN
 Normal Skin
 Dry Skin
 Oily Skin
 Combination Skin
 Sensitive Skin
NORMAL SKIN
 Normal skin should feel
 vibrant, elastic, and supple.
It is the least problematic type.
 It looks clean and smooth and
 has a good circulation and
 healthy complexion.
DRY SKIN
 If your skin is dry, your skin
will feel flaky, dry, and tight
  after you have wiped it.
 Dry skin can easily develop a
  sallow tone, wrinkles, and fine
pores, and it is very prone to
  aging and irritating.
OILY SKIN
 Oily skin is problematic – it usually looks
greasy, thick, coarse, and shiny, has
enlarged pores, and tends to break into
  acne.
 Oily skin is not prone much to aging and
  wrinkling.
COMBINATION SKIN
 Combination skin has patches of
both dry and oily skin, and it
requires different types of care in
 relation to particular facial areas.
 Dry zones(cheeks & around the
eyes), should be treated with rich
 creams & moisturizers.
 Oily areas(forehead & nose), will
 benefit from frequent and
 thorough cleaning.
SENSITIVE SKIN
 Sensitive skin is usually very dry, tends to
feel tight, and becomes inflamed and
  irritated easily.
 It is the most problematic and fragile type
of skin, which needs a very special type of
 care.
TAKING CARE OF OILY
            SKIN
 My skin type is oily.
 It usually has a lot of shine to it very soon
after cleansing and the pores are generally
  slightly enlarged.
 Oily skin tends to attract more dirt than
dry skin. So wash your face twice a day
with a gentle non-foaming cleanser and
  warm water.
 Use an alcohol-free, hydrating toner to
  help remove additional residue.
TREATMENTS FOR OILY
           SKIN
 Cleanser
 Toner
 Medicated Pads
 Blotting Paper
 Masks & Clays
 Moisturizers
 Oil-free Sunscreen
 Adapt Your Facial Regimen
CLEANSER
 Cleansing your face in the
morning and at night is the
 single most effective way to
 manage oily skin.
 Always use a gentle cleanser,
since harsh soaps can trigger the
 skin to increase oil production.
 The cleanser that I use is Cetaphil
  Cleansing Lotion.
TONER
 Apply toners only on oily areas
of the skin, such as the forehead,
 nose, and chin.
 Avoid using them on areas that
tend to be dry or you’re likely to
create dry patches on your skin.
 The toner which I use is Dabur
Gulabari. It suits every skin
type.
MEDICATED PADS
 Use medicated pads with
salicylic acid, glycolic acid, or
other oil-cutting acid
ingredients.
 You can carry them in your
purse and use them on the run
to freshen up your skin and
remove excess oil.
BLOTTING PAPERS
 Cosmetic blotting papers offer a
great option for removing oil
because they don’t dry out your
skin.
 Don’t scrub your skin with the
sheet of blotting paper.
 Simply press it against the oily
area long enough to allow it to
absorb oil, usually 15 to 20 seconds.
 Some blotting papers are lightly powdered,
  which further reduces shine.
MASKS & CLAYS
 Applying masks and clays to the skin helps
draw out oils and cleanses pores.
 Apply them only to problem areas.
 Use them only occasionally.
MOISTURIZERS
 People who have oily skin often
 steer clear of moisturizers, worrying
that they’ll make their skin look even
 shinier.
 Even oily skin needs to be
moisturized to look its best. Use
oil-free moisturizer.
 The water based moisturizer that I use is Cetaphil
  Moisturising Lotion.
 Vary the amount you apply depending on whether
the area tends to be dry or oily.
OIL-FREE SUNSCREEN
 Protecting skin from ultraviolet radiation is
  absolutely essential.
 There are a variety of new oil-free
products have been developed for oily skin.
 The latest innovation: facial powders laced
  with SPF protection.
ADAPT YOUR FACIAL REGIMEN
 How oily your skin looks can
vary season by season, week by
week, even day by day.
 Oil production is influenced by
 hormones, by mood, even by
the weather.
 It’s important to be aware of
how your skin varies so that you
can adjust your regimen
accordingly.
TECHNIQUES TO IMPROVE
  & MAINTAIN CONDITION
         OF HAIR
Types of Hair:
 Dry Hair
 Oily Hair
 Normal Hair
 Combination Hair
DRY HAIR
 Dry hair is due to inactive oil
glands.
 It is also caused by other factors
like over exposure to the sun, using
harsh shampoo and chemical
treatment.
 Accumulated oil, block the pores
not allowing the oil to flow on to the
surface.
 Dry hair would need plenty of
nourishment.
OILY HAIR
 This is due to the over secretion of oil.
Hence the scalp and hair gets too oily.
 Oily hair is easily recognizable. It looks
greasy even after shampooing and attracts
  more dirt.
 The oily hair needs to be washed every
  alternate days.
NORMAL HAIR
 This is the most ideal hair.
 It is shining, well balanced
and does not dry out.
 To maintain this ideal
condition a well balanced
diet and proper care is essential.
COMBINATION HAIR
 Combination type and
normal type hairs are a bit
more difficult to identify.
 If your head is oily and
your hair ends are dry,
you most likely have a
combination hair type.
TREATMENTS FOR OILY
            HAIR
 My hair type is Oily.
 Go for daily washing of your hair.
 A gentle shampoo must be used
which adds volume to the hair.
 The shampoo that I use is LOREAL
 TOTAL REPAIR.
 Avoid using a conditioner if your
hair is too oily.
 Re-establish your diet chart. Avoid
fatty and greasy foods.
 Do not use a hair gloss gel or shining
hair care products.

WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO
PRESENT YOURSELF AS A
PROFESSIONAL IN AN INTERVIEW
?
 How you dress says a great deal about you.
 The first impression is the last impression.
 A well groomed personality speaks value about
  your character.
 You should look like the people that do the job.
 If you are hoping to be hired to do something
professional, you should look like professional.
 A person can accept you or reject you in the
first 30 seconds, based on appearance alone.

  • 34. DRESSING  Choose comfortable clothing that suit your taste for fashion.  What you need is self-confidence & common sense in choosing your fashion statement.
  • 35. ACCESSORIES  Accessories should be kept minimal specially for the employees working in aviation & hospitality sectors.  Over do of accessories can mess up the whole professional look.
  • 36. HEALTHY FOOD  The term health food is generally used to describe foods that are considered to be beneficial to health, beyond a normal healthy diet required for human nutrition.  It may also refer to functional foods for which a specific claim of health benefits is made, such as that consumption of the food may prevent disease.
  • 37. FITNESS  Physical fitness comprises two related concepts: - General Fitness - Specific Fitness  Physical fitness is generally achieved through correct nutrition, exercise, and enough rest.
  • 38. TECHNIQUES TO IMPROVE & MAINTAIN CONDITION OF SKIN  Knowing your skin type is absolutely necessary in order to make a right decision about a proper skin care or treatment, which is suitable for your particular skin needs.  The initial quality, or type, of your skin is genetically determined – meaning that you are born with it.
  • 39. TYPES OF SKIN  Normal Skin  Dry Skin  Oily Skin  Combination Skin  Sensitive Skin
  • 40. NORMAL SKIN  Normal skin should feel vibrant, elastic, and supple. It is the least problematic type.  It looks clean and smooth and has a good circulation and healthy complexion.
  • 41. DRY SKIN  If your skin is dry, your skin will feel flaky, dry, and tight after you have wiped it.  Dry skin can easily develop a sallow tone, wrinkles, and fine pores, and it is very prone to aging and irritating.
  • 42. OILY SKIN  Oily skin is problematic – it usually looks greasy, thick, coarse, and shiny, has enlarged pores, and tends to break into acne.  Oily skin is not prone much to aging and wrinkling.
  • 43. COMBINATION SKIN  Combination skin has patches of both dry and oily skin, and it requires different types of care in relation to particular facial areas.  Dry zones(cheeks & around the eyes), should be treated with rich creams & moisturizers.  Oily areas(forehead & nose), will benefit from frequent and thorough cleaning.
  • 44. SENSITIVE SKIN  Sensitive skin is usually very dry, tends to feel tight, and becomes inflamed and irritated easily.  It is the most problematic and fragile type of skin, which needs a very special type of care.
  • 45. TAKING CARE OF OILY SKIN  My skin type is oily.  It usually has a lot of shine to it very soon after cleansing and the pores are generally slightly enlarged.  Oily skin tends to attract more dirt than dry skin. So wash your face twice a day with a gentle non-foaming cleanser and warm water.  Use an alcohol-free, hydrating toner to help remove additional residue.
  • 46. TREATMENTS FOR OILY SKIN  Cleanser  Toner  Medicated Pads  Blotting Paper  Masks & Clays  Moisturizers  Oil-free Sunscreen  Adapt Your Facial Regimen
  • 47. CLEANSER  Cleansing your face in the morning and at night is the single most effective way to manage oily skin.  Always use a gentle cleanser, since harsh soaps can trigger the skin to increase oil production.  The cleanser that I use is Cetaphil Cleansing Lotion.
  • 48. TONER  Apply toners only on oily areas of the skin, such as the forehead, nose, and chin.  Avoid using them on areas that tend to be dry or you’re likely to create dry patches on your skin.  The toner which I use is Dabur Gulabari. It suits every skin type.
  • 49. MEDICATED PADS  Use medicated pads with salicylic acid, glycolic acid, or other oil-cutting acid ingredients.  You can carry them in your purse and use them on the run to freshen up your skin and remove excess oil.
  • 50. BLOTTING PAPERS  Cosmetic blotting papers offer a great option for removing oil because they don’t dry out your skin.  Don’t scrub your skin with the sheet of blotting paper.  Simply press it against the oily area long enough to allow it to absorb oil, usually 15 to 20 seconds.  Some blotting papers are lightly powdered, which further reduces shine.
  • 51. MASKS & CLAYS  Applying masks and clays to the skin helps draw out oils and cleanses pores.  Apply them only to problem areas.  Use them only occasionally.
  • 52. MOISTURIZERS  People who have oily skin often steer clear of moisturizers, worrying that they’ll make their skin look even shinier.  Even oily skin needs to be moisturized to look its best. Use oil-free moisturizer.  The water based moisturizer that I use is Cetaphil Moisturising Lotion.  Vary the amount you apply depending on whether the area tends to be dry or oily.
  • 53. OIL-FREE SUNSCREEN  Protecting skin from ultraviolet radiation is absolutely essential.  There are a variety of new oil-free products have been developed for oily skin.  The latest innovation: facial powders laced with SPF protection.
  • 54. ADAPT YOUR FACIAL REGIMEN  How oily your skin looks can vary season by season, week by week, even day by day.  Oil production is influenced by hormones, by mood, even by the weather.  It’s important to be aware of how your skin varies so that you can adjust your regimen accordingly.
  • 55. TECHNIQUES TO IMPROVE & MAINTAIN CONDITION OF HAIR Types of Hair:  Dry Hair  Oily Hair  Normal Hair  Combination Hair
  • 56. DRY HAIR  Dry hair is due to inactive oil glands.  It is also caused by other factors like over exposure to the sun, using harsh shampoo and chemical treatment.  Accumulated oil, block the pores not allowing the oil to flow on to the surface.  Dry hair would need plenty of nourishment.
  • 57. OILY HAIR  This is due to the over secretion of oil. Hence the scalp and hair gets too oily.  Oily hair is easily recognizable. It looks greasy even after shampooing and attracts more dirt.  The oily hair needs to be washed every alternate days.
  • 58. NORMAL HAIR  This is the most ideal hair.  It is shining, well balanced and does not dry out.  To maintain this ideal condition a well balanced diet and proper care is essential.
  • 59. COMBINATION HAIR  Combination type and normal type hairs are a bit more difficult to identify.  If your head is oily and your hair ends are dry, you most likely have a combination hair type.
  • 60. TREATMENTS FOR OILY HAIR  My hair type is Oily.  Go for daily washing of your hair.  A gentle shampoo must be used which adds volume to the hair.  The shampoo that I use is LOREAL TOTAL REPAIR.  Avoid using a conditioner if your hair is too oily.  Re-establish your diet chart. Avoid fatty and greasy foods.  Do not use a hair gloss gel or shining hair care products.

  • 64. WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO PRESENT YOURSELF AS A PROFESSIONAL IN AN INTERVIEW ?  How you dress says a great deal about you.  The first impression is the last impression.  A well groomed personality speaks value about your character.  You should look like the people that do the job.  If you are hoping to be hired to do something professional, you should look like professional.  A person can accept you or reject you in the first 30 seconds, based on appearance alone.
