● Powered by Mozilla, the National Science Foundation-sponsored Wireless
Innovation for a Networked Society (WINS) Challenges will award a total of
$2 million in prizes over the next two years.
● The Goal: support innovative, open ideas that will make the Internet more
accessible, decentralized and resilient in some of the most challenging
scenarios.

● 2 stages for each challenge:
○ Design Concept Stage, for ideas
that have been thoroughly
researched and designed
○ Working Prototype Stage, for
working prototypes which are ready
to demo

rigorously-designed, thoughtfully developed
solutions that are ready to make a real
impact in communities

● Judges will be experts from academia,
NGOs and the business world with
expertise in technology, research and
community activism
● Entries will be assessed based on a
range of criteria, like creativity,
affordability, social impact and
scalability
